First Impression: Wet n Wild Spring 2013 Coloricon Palettes

 Greetings from the Dark Side!
Wet n Wild always makes a buzz in the makeup community when they release limited edition products. I also went a bit crazy and tracked these two new spring palettes down. I finally managed to find them at CVS! Woohoo! Keep reading for my first impression and for swatches ^_^

                                                                     First Impression
I absolutely adore Wet n Wild eyeshadows, especially the 8-pan eyeshadow palettes. I was very excited to hear about these two new palettes! It is too bad that they are limited edition because they would make an awesome addition to the permanent line.
My first thoughts on these palettes are solely based on swatching them. But
I have used plenty of WnW eyeshadows to have a good idea of how these will perform. First of all, as many others have mentioned, these are not as buttery smooth as the other 8-pan eyeshadow palettes (particularly the Going in the Wild palette). This is both good and bad. It is bad because these are a tad less pigmented. It is good though because they are not as soft and crumbly as the other palettes (and therefore it is less likely that the eyeshadows will break). Keep reading for my initial thoughts on each individual palette~

                                                                    Going In The Wild
After swatching both palettes, I can definitely agree with others when they say that this palette is the least pigmented. You will have to layer the color at least twice to get a nice pigmented color. However, the mint green color makes this palette completely worth buying. The green is insanely beautiful, pigmented, and soft. This mint green just screams spring! It is so bright, yet soft! OMG I am in love! ♥ The other colors are nice, but the mint green is definitely the show stopper of this palette.

                                                                     Nude Awakening
This palette is more pigmented than the other. It is also is a palette with only neutral colors, very similar to the Naked palette. My favorite thing about this is that there is different finishes and a variation of neutral shades. There is both shimmery colors, one matte, and one satin eyeshadow. There is a mix of ivory, golden brown, red-toned brown, green brown, coppery brown , cool brown, a charcoal, and black shades. This gives more options when making eye looks. As someone who does not own the Naked palette, this palette is a great addition to my collection. The colors are pigmented and (as far as I can tell) easy to work with. This is a great drugstore alternative to the Naked palette variations. And for $5, you won't feel too guilty about buying it!

I definitely recommend you pick these up if you see them at you local drugstore (I got mine at CVS). I will be giving away one of each of these some time in the near future! :D

  3. I don't understand how such awesome looking palettes can be available so cheaply-yet those Flower Cosmetics ones were more expensive & so disappointing. Loving the purples in that first palette too.

  6. Oh the darkest purple and darkest emerald from the first palette had my heart jumping very fast!! I've had way too many neutral palettes so I'll pass the nude awakening one. :)

  13. Oohh that mint green is to die for!!! I have a lot of the wet n wild palettes and I think I need to add these especially since I've been eyeing the UD naked palette for a while but that $50 price tag is a little bit of a deterrent so maybe nude awakenings could hold me over.
