Introduction: Series Challenge

Greetings from the Dark Side!

So what is this "Challenge Series" you ask? Well, let me start by telling you all a story...

After finishing my Game of Thrones series, I was at a loss as to what to move onto next. I asked you all on my Facebook as to whether I should continue my Legend of Zelda series or start on a Sailor Moon series. Most of you wanted to see Legend of Zelda, but a few also wanted a Sailor Moon series. This is when Pryanka Arora suggested that I do a blog challenge in which I let you all know what I will be basing my inspired looks on so that all of you are able to join in a create inspired looks as well. I thought that this was a really great idea! Kudos, Pryanka! You get all the credit for this idea :D

After thinking about it for a while, I decided that if this works out well I can make this into a monthly challenge. Each month will have a total of 3 monthly looks and each month will have a specific theme to it (hence the "Series" part of the name since I do most of my inspired looks as a series). I will pick out the 3 inspirations for each look and make post at the beginning of the month which you can all follow. I will be creating all 3 monthly looks, 1 per week. Any time during the week, I will post my look and any who participates can share their look as well. At the end of the month, I make a roundup post with my looks and the looks of all of you who participate.

Then I thought I could take this a step further to encourage you all to take part of this challenge. At the end of the month, I will hold a giveaway contest of sorts for those of you who chose to participate in the challenge. I'm not sure how I will decide the winner yet(maybe have a vote for the best look or have the person who made the most looks? IDK yet) but whoever wins will win a predetermined prize. So let's break this down into simpler steps, shall we?

                                                       Breakdown of the Series Challenge

1. At the beginning of the month, I will create a post with pictures for all the month's looks. Each month will have a specific theme and each month will have 3 total looks.

2. Every week of that month,  I will create one look, my own rendition of the inspired look, and post it on my blog.

3. You will all be welcome to join in and create your own looks for the month's inspiration. You can send the look to my email (darksideofbeautyblog@gmail.com) or share it on my Facebook page. Of course, you can also post it on your own website and share the URL with me. You can do eye makeup, full-face makeup, or nails! If you do post your look on your website and/or Facebook, please be sure to give my blog a shout out so other people can join the Series Challenge as well!

4. At the end of the month, I will share all my looks and all your looks on my blog, Facebook, Twitter and give you credit for your work.

5. Those who participated will be entered in a giveaway and have a chance to win a prize! The winner will be decided after the month ends.

6. The month ends, and new month begins with a new theme!

If you have any questions about this, please let me know.

I hope to see many of you participate! Let's have lots of fun together! And in the words of my sensei: 頑張りましょう!(ganbarimashou!) (Japanese for "Let's work together!/Let's do our best!")

Empties #8

I haven't had a lot of empties recently, mostly because I have used so many different products. In the month of July, I did use up a few items though!

Haul + First Impression: MAC

Hello lovelies ♥

I made a small online order from MAC last week and finally arrived. The only reason I made an order was because I really wanted the Riri Woo lipstick. I've been really into red lipsticks this year and I had to have this. So if you want to see what I got plus some swatches, keep reading :)

1. Riri Woo Lipstick
I am not a huge fan of Rhianna or anything, but I do think she is really pretty and has good taste in lipstick colors. So I was happy to see that MAC still had this lippie in stock. I don't own Ruby Woo (the inspiration for Riri Woo) so I can't say how similar or different they are. I will say that this is quite dry. However, it has an amazing lasting power!

Series Overview: Game of Thrones Seven Kingdoms

Hello dark siders and ASoIaF/Game of Thrones fans!

I recently finished the last inspired look of the main Houses of the Seven Kingdoms. In order to celebrate that, I want to show you all the main Houses of Westeros in one post. It is funny that although it is called the Seven Kingdoms, there are actually nine main regions (this is because two of the nine were added afterwards). I hope you enjoy seeing all nine Houses together!

*At the bottom of each photo, there is a link to the original post for each look (in case you want to see a step-by-step tutorial for each look).

House Baratheon is definitely my favorite look! I really like the combination of yellows and the stag antler eyeliner is so cool! I also think this look was the start of me trying to improve my skills in applying makeup!

A Song of Ice and Fire Series: House Martell

"Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken".

House Martell is one of the seven Great Houses of Westeros whose ruling seat lies in Dorne. Their house sigil is "a gold spear piercing a red sun on an orange field".

If you only watch the TV series, then you haven't heard a lot about this House; however, if you read the books then you will be a bit more familiar with them. I am particularly fond of the female characters that are connected to this House (like Nymeria and the Sand Snakes)! My rendition of this look is taking the concept of the House sigil; I used oranges, red, and yellow for this look.

Rescue Beauty Lounge 'Kellie Gonzo'

Hello all my lovely readers!

Rescue Beauty Lounge recently released a collection of nail polishes that was a collaboration between RBL and a few nail bloggers. As a huge fan of Rescue Beauty Lounge I had to pick up a few shades. One of those colors was Kellie Gonzo, named after the blog.

Kellie Gonzo is a bright, juicy pink-toned coral with gold glitter. This color screams happiness and summer. It is so girly and fun! The formula is good but not perfect. It does have a great color pay-off in two coats, but it has a VNL (visible nail line) so I have to use three coats to get a perfect coverage. This does dry really quickly though, so having to add a third coat is not that bad.

What do you think? It is such a gorgeous summer color, right?
