Empties and Throw-Outs: Lip Products

Hello dark siders!

I mentioned on Facebook and Twitter how I decided to do a major cleaning of my makeup collection. My room and makeup collection are so cluttered, so I really need to get rid of a lot of things. I think I am getting to the point in my life where I have used so many different makeup products that I have already discovered products I really like and will repurchase for a long time. Because of this, I find myself hauling less and less than I used to. I have products I haven't used in ages, and it is time to clean out! I am using the rule that Ted Mosby uses in the show How I Met Your Mother: you have to get rid of stuff you haven't used it in the last year. So if I haven't used that product in 2013, it's time to either throw it out or give it away. I started cleaning my lipstick collection and here are some things I'm already getting rid of.

1. Sephora Lipsticks 

I've had these Sephora brand lipsticks for such a long time! I haven't really used them that much and I don't particularly like them. They have that smell that tells me that these should no longer be used. So they are going in the thrash. Repurchase? No.

Updated Review: MAC Eyeshadows

Now that my eyeshadow collection has grown so much, I wanted to go back a bit and do an updated review on my MAC eyeshadows. I did a review about two years ago (which you can see HERE and HERE), but since then I have had a chance to try out so many other brands. First, let's take a look at my current MAC collection.

Organizing My Makeup Collection: Eyeshadow Drawer

One of my goals for this year is to have my makeup more organized. I have had makeup products all over my room with no proper organization. Last week I finally managed to organize most of my lip and face products into one drawer. This week's challenge was to organize most of my eyeshadows in one drawers, so I will show you how that went.

These first two photos are BEFORE shots. I had so much crap in these drawers it is not even funny! I had skin care products, cotton pads, my deodorant (O_o")...I don't know how all this came to be in the same drawer...

It has always been my goal to have my makeup collection perfectly organized. It is very difficult to accomplish when you constantly acquire new products and when you have no space to store them. But ever since I organized my nail polish collection perfectly into one Helmer, I have been wanting really badly to organize my makeup collection into a few drawers. Organizing is also one of my goals for this week, so I took some time today to start to organize things a bit. I regret not having a "before" picture so you could see how much neater my Lip and Face drawer looks like (I will definitely let you see a before picture when I organize my eyeshadow drawer!). I still have so much more to organize so this is just a start. 

I know, I have a LOT of makeup, more than I really need. But makeup is one of my biggest passions. To me, makeup is not a tool to be pretty, it is a means to express who you are.Yes, sometimes I am freaked out by how much makeup I have, but then I get over it ^_^  

Anyways, what I am showing you is the top drawer of a 5-drawer furniture piece that I bought at IKEA.  It is really great for storing makeup, clothes, and other other personal belongings. I use one drawer for both all my lip and face products. Each photo shows half of the drawer. 

What's Inside My Helmer? (Nail Polish Collection)

A long, long time ago- okay I lie it was only a few weeks ago, months at most- I bought a Helmer at IKEA because many other bloggers use it to store their nail polishes. The Helmer is not too expensive so I thought it would be a great way to organize my nail polishes. I was really lazy to build it though and I only managed to build it today and get all of my nail polishes inside! If you want to see what I have inside this little thing, stay tuned!

NARS Single Eyeshadow Collection

When I first started to become interested in high end makeup, NARS was one of the first brands I tried. Their eyeshadows are great quality and the colors are also very pretty. The sleek and sophisticated packaging intrigued me and the quality and pigmentation of the makeup always keep me coming back for more. I no longer splurge in NARS eyeshadows since they are expensive, but I did manage to collect quite a few of NARS single shadows.

 1. Night Flight: A pigmented black base with a lot of blue shimmers.
This was my very first NARS shadow and my least used. It is extremely pigmented and you don't need a lot of product to get a good color pay off. I mainly use this for gothic-like smokey eye (See my Teal Grunge Look). You can get fall out when applying this, so you have to be careful or else you will get major black
 smudges on the under eye area.
