Review: Sugarpill Burning Heart Palette

Greetings from the Dark Side!

Guess what I will be reviewing today? Yeah...well the tittle of the post kind of ruined it...but yes! I will be reviewing the second palette I purchased from Sugarpill, the Burning Heart Palette! Heart Breaker is awesome, but this palette is so BRIGHT and SUPER-SPECIAL-AWESOME. Let's see what this palette is all about, shall we?

Price and Availability

$34 on the Sugarpill website. The shipping cost is pretty good, and it was shipped fairly quickly since I made my order during the Heart Breaker palette's release. Even with the massive amounts of orders they received, I still got my order fast =3

Packaging
Packaging is one of the awesome points of this palette, in my opinion. They are super cute (the palette itself and the box it comes in). The palette comes with a really good size mirror as well. And, they don't skip out on quality. I love how the palette is so heavy and well-made. I wouldn't hesitate to travel with it because it's not flimsy and I don't think it would damage easily. I actually dropped my palette a few times already and it's still good as new! ^_^

On a slightly creepy side note, can I just say how much I love the character on the front of the box?! Like seriously, they could not have made it better. Black hair? Check. Awesome eyeshadow? Check. Purple lips? Check. Purple blush? Check. Purple accessories? Check! I want to look like that xD

Swatches

Here are the four colors, swatched on bare skin:
Flamepoint -intensely bright orange
Buttercupcake - a buttery, sunny yellow
Love+ - slightly blue-toned, bright red
Poison Plum -red-toned violet

Product in Action

Here is the look I did using the entire palette. You can see the post on this HERE.

Review

After experimenting with this palette for a couple of weeks now, I came to the conclusion that this is awesome xD Haha. To be honest, I quite prefer this palette over the Heart Breaker just because it is more vibrant, so much more fun, and definitely more versatile. This is a MUST for those who love bright eyeshadows, and I have no idea why it took me so long to own it. Albeit, it has it's small faults, but nothing that would deter me from keeping it.

I thought these were going to be matte shades, but they aren't completely matte. I find that they all have a tiny sheen, and it is most apparent in Poison Plum.
Pigmentation was quite amazing overall. Flamepoint is the most pigmented and has the best and smoothest application. Love+ would soon follow, then Poison Plum, and lastly Buttercupcake.
Buttercupcake was a tab bit disappointing. It still is the BEST yellow I own, but I thought it would be SUPER pigmented. It takes about 3-4 swatches to become fully opaque. I heard that Poison Plum is difficult to work with, but I didn't find that to be true. I did have to go over it twice because the first application/swatch can be a bit streaky, but I don't think it's too bad. The result is beautiful! It is one of the most gorgeous purples I own.
Although it has it's faults, these are one of the best bright colored eyeshadows I own. It is SO hard to find good yellows, reds, and oranges. My search for the perfect orange has stopped with this :)

Rating: 9.5/10

Tell me, what do you think of this palette overall? Would you wear this bright colors? Is a palette like this something you would reach for often?

Thank you for reading ♥ Until next time~

Sugarpill EOTD: From Dusk Till Dawn

Greetings from The Dark Side!

I've missed being on my blog daily, but I've been really busy and sick. I literally just finished writing my 10 page term paper while having a fever. To say the least...it sucked! I should probably be sleeping, since I have a long day of studying tomorrow, but I really want to get a post up~ I can't leave you guys hanging for too long ^_^ I decided to do a look using my Sugarpill Burning Heart palette. I will have a review of it soon, but I am still testing it. I also used these crazy Elise lashes! Tell me what you think.

Also I had no clue what to call this!

 Products Used

-Lime Crime Eyeshadow Helper
-Sugarpill Burning Heart Palette
-Sugarpill Tako eyeshadow
-NARs 'Kitty' eyeliner
-Prestige My Biggest Lashes mascara
-Elise #154 Lashes

From Dusk to Dawn

I have:
-Poison Plum on the lid
-Falmepoint on the crease
-Buttercupcake above Flamepoint and in the inner corner
-Love + on the lower lash line
-Tako on the browbone and on the corner of the eye

These are all really awesome eyeshadows! <3

And look at these crazy awesome lashes!

This is pretty colorful~ I actually liked it a lot. I would prefer to wear it without the lashes though. The lashes didn't quite go with the look. What do you think?

The Lipstick Compendium: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain 'Darling'

Since the release of the Revlon Just Kitten Lip Stain Balms, they have become very popular in the beauty community. I wanted to give one a try so I picked one up (since Revlon was 40% off at Rite Aid). I picked the color Darling because it seemed like a wearable color. It is also very me, since I adore purple-toned/cool toned pinks~! Here is my review of this product along with some swatches :)

 Price and Availability

~$7.69 at most drugstores. As far as I know these are only in displays right now, but they should be placed in the permanent Revlon isle soon.

Packaging

These are similar to Tarte Lipsurgence or Clinique Chubby Sticks. They come in a stick form, but the product is dispensed by twisting the bottom of the stick (similar to retractable eye liners). The packaging is alright with me. I don't love it because it makes applying it a little odd, but it is very easy to throw it into a small makeup bag or purse.

Swatches

Darling is a very pale pink with purple undertones. I assume this one is much sheerer than the rest, and it won't show up as well as the darker colors. For me, this is a my-lips-but-better color that really only enhances my natural lip color.

After the color wears off, it leaves a very natural reddish stain. I really love how this one stains. It isn't too red and it gives my lips a really nice stain.

I've been wearing this since I bought it! It goes well with many looks.

Review

I can't review this range of products as a whole since I just have this one shade, but I can review how this one works. The color is great for a sheer cool pink tint, and it actually stains the lips darker than I expected. The color payoff is a tad disappointing, but I expected that as one of the lightest shades it would have a lesser color pay off.
The staining effect is quite nice, especially if you hate to touch up your lip color throughout the day. I think I like the stain better than the actual pinky color xD
If it wasn't for the staining effect, this would have a terrible wear. The pinky-purple color fades rather quickly with a wear of only 1 hour (or even less!). But, like I said, the stain makes up for that.
As for the "balm" quality of this, well, it does feel moisturizing. It's nice, since most stains are very dry. I wouldn't skip out on lip balm, though. I don't think these are moisturizing enough. In my swatches I didn't apply lip balm, and my lips are looking dry.
This is not a perfect product, but it is good enough that I would definitely like to try another color or two. The other colors might be a bit better, perhaps.

Rating: 8/10

Have you tried these? If so, what shade would you recommend?

FOTD: Glamrock Grunge

Hii ♥

I have been trying out some of my new drugstore buys these past couple of days, and I have to say that I love drugstore makeup! It is really fantastic! If you are frugal when it comes to beauty products, you can find some seriously awesome products from your local drugstores. I used a combination of Wet n Wild and Revlon products to create a dark-eyed look that is perfect for concerts or for nights out. But I don't mind wearing this during the day! ^_~

Here it is from one view:

Products Used
 EYES
-ELF Eyelid Primer
-Wet n wild 'Glamrock' single eyeshadow (lid)
-Wet n Wild 'Lust' palette (mix of purples on crease and lower lash line)
-Dolly Wink liquid liner
-Prestige My Blackest Lashes Mascara
FACE
-Revlon Whipped Foundation in 150 Buff
-Just Bitten Lip Stain Balm 'Darling'
Glamrock Grunge

Here is the look from a different view:

Sugarpill EOTD: Acidic Ocean

Greetings lovelies!

I have been playing around with my Sugarpill Heart Breaker palette still, and I have simply been loving it ♥ Acidberry and Mochi are still my favorites and 2am has been wowing me with it's beauty! I created another look using all the shadows in the palette~ Enjoy!

Oh and I also used the new crazy Ardell lashes I showed in my haul! They are so voluminous!

Products Used
-ELF Eyelid Primer
-Sugarpill Heart Breaker Palette
-Urban Decay 24/7 Pencil Liner 'Perversion'
-Dolly Wink liquid liner
-Prestige My Biggest Lashes Mascara
-Ardell Double Up #201 Lashes

Acidic Ocean Look

-Velocity (bright blue) on the lid
-Mochi (minty aqua) on the crease
-Acidberry (lime green) above Mochi and inner corner
-2am (purple) over black pencil liner on the lower lash line

I love the way 2am looks over black liner! The aqua shimmers really show up well and give the purple more dimension :D I mean, it's the only eyeshadow I am wearing on my lower lash line but it looks like I have a blue and a purple on.

What do you think? Would you wear this? Or is there a particular color you would prefer to wear from this palette?

Drugstore Haul + First Impressions: Revlon, Wet n Wild, Ardell, SOHO, Sinful Colors

Hey guys! Happy Friday :) Since I was so happy that this week was finally over, I went to a few drugstores and hauled a little. I went to Rite Aid, Walgreens, and CVS.

Firstly, this line of brushes called SOHO. I have never heard of them, but I picked one of the smudger brushes. I could not get a decent shot on this brush, and my camera has no battery now. But I do want to make a formal review of this.

SOHO Smudger Brush ($7.99)
So this is a very small Taklon Fiber brush. The bristles are really soft! The only complaint I have so far is that the handle is really cheaply made. It's plastic and I hate it!

Sinful Colors 'Cinderella' Nail Polish ($2.99)
I own one of these and I absolutely love it. A fellow blogger was really kind to get it for me since I couldn't find it. But, I saw two of them at Walgreens and I took both of them  >:D
I want one as a backup and the other I will probably give it away with a future giveaway or something.

Wet n Wild 'Sweet As Candy' Trio
I love these trios! They are fantastic! Pigmented, soft, and blendable!

Wet n Wild Single Eyeshadow 'Glamrock' ($0.99)
This a new shade in the single shadow range. It looked pretty so I decided to try it out :) I probably have something similar to it, but whatever xD
Bad, bad swatch!
When I went to Rite Aid there was a 40% off Revlon products so I took advantage of this sale to get a new foundation. My BB creams are almost gone so I needed something else.

Revlon ColorStay Foundation '150 Buff' (~$8)
I love this foundation! It is a no-fail for me, so I thought it would be nice to have as a backup of sorts.

Revlon ColorStay Whipped Foundation (~$8)
This is the new foundation for the Revlon ColorStay line. I have heard a lot of great things about it, and since I could get a bit cheaper, I thought why not! I used it today, but I am not sure how I feel about it just yet. I'll keep using it and let you all know what I think of it.

Ardell Double Up #201 Lashes ($4.99)
These lashes caught my eye. They have two layers of lashes to create a very dense lash. They looked really awesome and they were $1.00 off!

Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain 'Gothic' ($~5)
I have eyed this color for a long time, and since it was 40% off, it was the best time to get it. I really love the color! I hope it doesn't dry out though since it has a marker-like brush.

Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain Balm 'Darling' (~$5)
These are the new lip products from Revlon, and they looked really interesting. I purchased this one, which is a purple-toned pink. There are a lot of colors to choose from though.  I haven't tried it yet, so there isn't much else I can say about it just yet.

A little unrelated...but I found these two new products in one of my drawers. I bought them not too long ago. I will also be giving these away in a future giveaway!

I love drugstore makeup ♥ It is so awesome! I think my favorite drugstore brands are Revlon, Wet n Wild, Sinful Colors, and Prestige. What are yours?

Tutorial: Dark Side Neutrals

Greetings from the Dark Side ;)

I am not the biggest fond of neutral eyeshadows. I do like them, but I don't wear them very often. But when I do wear neutrals, I like to do it the Dark Side way. I recently picked my MAC neutral colors palette from the neglected part of my makeup collection and started using them more. I particularly love Nylon, Rice Paper, and Woodwinked. So today, I going to show you how I achieve my neutral look using those three eyeshadows~

Products Used

-Lime Crime Eyeshadow Helper
-Urban Decay 24/7 Pencil Liner 'Perversion'
-MAC 'Woodwinked' E/S
-MAC 'Nylon' E/S
-MAC 'Rice Paper' E/S
-Prestige My Biggest Lashes Mascara

Tutorial

 1. Start by applying your primer.
     I used Lime Crime's primer.
 2. Take a black eyeliner and messily apply it around the eye. Smudge it slightly. This is by all means optional. I personally think it looks better with this.
 2. Using MAC Woodwinked eyeshadow, apply it all over the black liner and all the way over the crease. See how applying the black pencil made the eyeshadow look more intense and slightly smokey? This difference is going to add dimension to the look since aside from adding a highlight, we won't be applying any other eyeshadow on the lid.
 3. With a dense crease brush (I used the Tokidoki one I talked about in my May Hits and Misses) blend from the crease up. We want Woodwinked to be really blended from the crease upwards. Blend it out as much as you can. This will give a really nice transition, and it will look like you used more than one eyeshadow (which we totally did not!).
Also, apply MAC Nylon in the inner corner. This is the prettiest inner corner highlight shade EVER!
 4. Now, add the finishing touches. With the dense blending brush, apply MAC Rice Paper on the brow bone as a nice highlight.
Add a touch of black eyeliner to the very base of your lash line and apply loads of mascara.

And your done~! :) Once you get the steps down, this is really a very easy look to do. It takes me less than than 5 minutes to complete :D

If you own these shades, or anything similar, I encourage you to try this! It is a neutral look, but a really polished, fierce and sexy look for a night out.
