Review: Olay Fresh Effects Dew Over! Hydrating Gel Moisturizer

Get beauty in an instant with the Olay Fresh Effects {Dew Over!} Hydrating Gel Moisturizer~

The Olay Fresh Effects {Dew Over!} Hydrating Gel Moisturizer is a lightly fragranced, light-weight gel moisturizer that hydrates the skin for 24-hours leaving the skin looking dewy and beautiful in an instant.

Here you can see what the product looks like on top of the skin. It is a really light gel, not runny, sticky, or slimy at all. The moisturizer is absorbed really quickly leaving the skin looking dewy, healthy, and bright.

The Good:
Let's talk about the packaging! I was drawn into the Fresh Effects line because it has such cute packaging. The boxes are bright and the jars and tubes are really cute! This product is no exception. I am really happy about the packaging! The next thing is the scent. I personally have a love/hate relationship with product scents. I can hate a product if it has a really strong smell, but I can also love products that have lovely scents. This moisturizer definitely has a lovely scent. It has a very light, sweetly floral, and more neutral tea scent. The scent lingers on a little after you apply it, but it does go away. If you hate scented-skin care, don't fret. The scent is very mild and it should not overpower your sense of smell.
The moisturizer itself has a fantastic texture: it is light, airy, hydrating but not oily. It is oil-free and it is water-based. The water-base feel so hydrating on the skin and it is a perfect hydrator for the hot summer days. I have been using this moisturizer for the past month and it has done really well to hydrate my combination skin during the warm weather months. I use this at night (since it does not have SPF), and it makes me wake up with fully hydrated skin. My skin has not been dry at all, I am happy to say.

The Bad:
Although I think this is great for the summer-weather, it would not be the most hydrating moisturizer for winter months, especially if you have really dry skin like me.This is an alternative to heavy-moisturizer for when your skin is not as dry though. It is working for me well right now that it is May. But, if you use this during the day, make sure you wear SPF because this moisturizer does not contain SPF. I would recommend it for night use, just like I have been using it.

After one month of using this moisturizer, I can say that this moisturizer definitely offers light, non-oily hydration. It gives the skin a well-rested, dewy look. This is a great moisturizer for my combination skin now that the weather is becoming warmer. This, however, will not substitute my heavy-duty moisturizer (that is oil-based) for those days my skin is really dry. It will, however, be a great replacement for when my skin is oilier and benefits more from a water-based hydrator.

  1. I haven't tried anything from the Fresh Effects range, but like you, I'm really impressed by the packaging! It's a tad too cold here in Sydney at the moment, but I think I will give this a try once summer comes around, thanks for the review!
