Although I have been on a makeup ban, I did a little bit of shopping after New Years. I am not proud of myself since I didn't stick to my makeup ban, but I am very happy with my purchases.
1. Chanel Illusion D'Hombre eyeshadow in 'Mirifique'
I have wanted this since the launch of this range was released. But I kept hesitating since they are very expensive. After using it several times, I can say for sure that it is worth every penny. The texture is very unique, it is pigmented, and it does not crease. Mirifique is a shimmer-packed , glossy black.
Look at the sparkleeee~ I love this!
2. Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadows
This is a new range by Maybelline. I saw these at Rite Aid and I tried to resist my urge to get them. I was not going to buy any, but then I thought they might be limited edition. And of course if I missed out on a great product, I would regret it later. I ended up with four xD I purchased Tough as Taupe, Audacious Asphalt, Painted Purple, and Edgy Emerald (which I used in my latest EOTD). The range of colors is great; there is blue, green, gold, taupe, purple, bronze, white, and red. These are not like the Chanel Illusion D'Hombre, Armani Eyes to Kill, or the L'oreal Infallible shadows. These are more like creme shadows that don't crease easily, similar to MAC paint pots. I will outright tell you that I HATE Painted Purple. It is sheer, streaky and the color doesn't show up on my eye lid. Tough as Taupe and Audacious Asphalt though are incredibly pigmented. Tough as Taupe is my favorite so far; it reminds me of Illamasqua's Cream Pigments.
3. Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips Gel Liners in 'Glam Green'
I got this during the CVS sale, and it cost me a little over $2. These are normally a little too expensive especially since they are drugstore makeup. The sale price was irresistible! I love the sage green and the shimmery black colors. They apply really well. The small brush that comes with the liners, though, sucks for applying gel liner. This is my first PF product :D
4. Jason Purifying Tea Tree Oil
My skin was doing really good for my entire winter break. I almost didn't get any pimples, and if I did they were really small and went away very fast. But since Thursday, I got this bad breakout. I think I was stressing out over starting school again (my quarter started today). I picked this up since nothing else was working on the stubborn breakout. I can't say too much about it yet, since I barely used it tonight. It feels very nice though. The smell is strong, but not too bad.
5. Jason 98% Aloe Vera Gel
I have been looking for Aloe Vera, and this is the only one I have been able to find. Aloe Vera is great for dry skin and acne scars so I thought it would be great for me. I used this twice already...I am very confused by it. Both times I have applied it, it has left me with a bright, glowing red face that burns like I had no idea my face could burn. This confuses me because my face has NEVER been sensitive to a product before. It is safe to say I will not be using this again. Any recommendations for an aloe vera gel?
Yup that is about it. I will keep trying my best to uphold my makeup ban T_T
I will also be using the Maybelline Color Tattoo eyeshadows in my eye tutorials~ I will keep you update you on the Tea Tree Oil as well as do a separate review and eye look for Chanel 'Mirifique'.

Painted Purple doesn't look bad here, but trust me, in person it is not that great. |

I got 2 of the maybelline color tattoos! I can't wait to play with them. ^_^
ReplyDeleteThe PF liners look gorgeous! I've never seen those shades of their gel liners before.
Some aloe I have tried irritated my skin. You should try pure aloe (juice from the plant) and see if your skin will react to that. It's usually better :)

Do you know why Jason Aloe Vera caused your face to turn red - like a caustic chemical burn?
ReplyDeleteYou made the classic mistake - you did not turn the bottle over and READ the ingredients!
Look at all the chemicals in this product - the aloe vera has been ruined in it.
Let this be a lesson to you and all your readers!
Jason Aloe Vera is quite expensive as well...
You can buy a gallon of pure aloe vera for what this product costs - and make your own product, use it for skin care and all kinds of things.
There are many sources of pure Aloe Vera on-line - look for those with only a little ascorbic acid (vitamin C) or sodium benzoate as a preservative and that's it.
READ THE INGREDIENTS: Aloe barbadensis leaf juice*, aqua (water), carbomer gluconolactone, potasium hydroxide, glycerin, arginine, allantoin, panthenol, menthol, sodium phytate, polysorbate 20, phenoxyethanol, sodium benzoate, amyl cinnamal, benzyl benzoate, benzyl silicylate, hexyl cinnamal, limonene, linalool, fragrance (parfum). *Certified Organic Ingredient
