Weekly Favorites #3

1. Revlon 'Snow Peach' Lipstick
I bought this lipstick a few weeks ago and I have been using so much since I got it. It was part of the Revlon display for the vintage lip colors that were brought back. This was the only shade that really called out to me. It is a beautiful coral peach that is perfect for spring. I absolutely love it! It has been in my purse the whole week!

2. Micheal Kors Slim Runway Rose Gold Watch
Last week, I splurged on this Micheal Kors watch. I have been wanting a MK watch for a long time, but they are quite pricey. I settled for this rose gold beauty! You can't see it very well, but it is a really simple design. I have been wearing it every day this week!

3. ELF HD Undereye Setting Powder
I love my Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer, but sometimes I feel like I need a really good setting powder for it. I found this Undereye Setting Powder at Target and I immediately knew it was something I had to try. So far, I really like it! It gives the skin a really matte and soft finish. It doesn't really cover dark circles, but it helps to set concealer or to just slightly brighten up the eye area.

4. MAC 'Riri Woo' Lip Liner
I hate putting a limited edition item on here, but I have honestly been using this a lot this week too. I tend to use it with red lipstick, but I have also used it under Revlon's 'Snow Peach' to add a bit of a red undertone to the lipstick. This is such a great lip liner and a beautiful color!

5. RBL 'Kellie Gonzo' Nail Polish
Another limited edititon product I hate to mention, but this polish here has been on my toe nails this week. It matches the 'Snow Peach' lipstick too, and adds a bright pop of coral. It is perfect for spring. And regardless of it being spring, I love coral polishes/lipsticks!

6. NYC 'Sunny' Bronzer
I am starting to bust out this bronzer really often now that the weather is becoming warmer. This is a great bronzer. It is inexpensive, it does not pull orange, and it applies beautifully. I thought it would be too dark on my light skin tone, but it really is not. A great product for the money!

Rescue Beauty Lounge 'Fire Queen'

Greetings from the Dark Side!

You should all know by now that I have a huge obsession with Rescue Beauty Lounge nail polishes. I own a lot of them, many of which were gifted to me by my dad. The most recent collection is the Fan 2.0 Collection, a collection of polishes inspired by Rescue Beauty Lounge fans. I purchased most of the collection as a birthday present to myself, it was the only way I could justify the purchase xD. The first of the polishes I am trying out is the shade called 'Fire Queen', inspired by the so-called jadeite glass.

Fire Queen is a pale, jelly jade. One coat is very sheer, but the color builds up very nicely; I used three coats to achieve a good opacity. The result is a very muted and delicate jade color. I am loving this so very much! I have so many pale greens/mints, but there is something so sophisticated about this color. I can't really pinpoint what it is about this that sets it apart from other mints I own. I think it might be the fact that it is a jelly formula and that it is pale and vivid at the same time. It is a very pricey nail polish, but it splashes all my other pale greens out of the water!

More RBL swatches coming soon ^_~

Rescue Beauty Lounge 'Scrangie 2.0'

Greetings from the Dark Side!

You may or may not know this, but I am a devout fan of Rescue Beauty Lounge. I have A LOT of RBLs in my nail polish stash, and they are all my most treasured nail polishes in my collection. I was very excited about the shade 'Scrangie 2.0' (named and inspired by Scrangie). Scrangie already has another nail polish (which I also own), and I was definitely looking forward to this second shade. Unfortunately it sold it out during the pre-sale and I thought I would never get my hands on it. Thankfully, it was re-stocked and I was able to get my greedy little hands on it the second time around! Hooray!

Scrangie 2.0 is a black base with a mix of olive, green, gold, and teal shimmer. It is really hard to capture the color because it shifts a lot depending on the lighting. It is really antique-looking, but it still has really fun glitter in it. The formula is amazing; I only used one coat for full opacity! I've worn it for a few days now with no sign of chipping.

What do you think of this shade? Yay or Nay?

Haul!: Walgreens, Rite Aid, and ULTA

Greetings dark siders!

I recently started to clean out my makeup collection, but I guess I decided to invest in some new products so I went hauling xD I swear when ever I say "I don't really haul anymore", BAM! I go and buy a bunch of stuff! Oh well, more stuff for you guys to see on my blog ^_^

                                                                           Walgreens

1. Pond's  Luminous Clean Wet Cleansing Towelettes
So I went to Walgreens because I needed to get some makeup removing wipes. I have been using the Simple Facial Wipes for a while now, and I noticed my skin breaking out a bit when I stopped using them. I usually get my makeup removing wipes from Rite Aid, but I was closer to Walgreens so I went there. Unfortunately the wipes were more than $6, and I always pay less than $4 per pack from Rite Aid. Instead I picked up the Pond's makeup removing wipes because they were BOGO FREE. I ended up getting 2 packs of 30 wipes for $5.99! Score!

Rescue Beauty Lounge 'Fashion Police'

Greetings from the Dark Side!

Here is another beauty from the Rescue Beauty Lounge Blogger 2.0 collection. This is 'Fashion Police', named after the blog (if you haven't checked out Fashion Police you should!).

Fashion Police is a black base with insane amounts of multi-colored glitter. Holy crap, the glitter is amazing! I have never seen such a glittery black before. This definitely knocks all other glitter blacks out of the water! The formula is not amazing though. It is a little bit thick. Two coats was the best because it covered the nail completely while avoiding adding too many coats.Overall I think it is worth struggling with the formula because the glitter is amazing. The nail polish seriously looks like a starry night sky!

A Song of Ice and Fire Series: House Martell

"Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken".

House Martell is one of the seven Great Houses of Westeros whose ruling seat lies in Dorne. Their house sigil is "a gold spear piercing a red sun on an orange field".

If you only watch the TV series, then you haven't heard a lot about this House; however, if you read the books then you will be a bit more familiar with them. I am particularly fond of the female characters that are connected to this House (like Nymeria and the Sand Snakes)! My rendition of this look is taking the concept of the House sigil; I used oranges, red, and yellow for this look.

Rescue Beauty Lounge 'Kellie Gonzo'

Hello all my lovely readers!

Rescue Beauty Lounge recently released a collection of nail polishes that was a collaboration between RBL and a few nail bloggers. As a huge fan of Rescue Beauty Lounge I had to pick up a few shades. One of those colors was Kellie Gonzo, named after the blog.

Kellie Gonzo is a bright, juicy pink-toned coral with gold glitter. This color screams happiness and summer. It is so girly and fun! The formula is good but not perfect. It does have a great color pay-off in two coats, but it has a VNL (visible nail line) so I have to use three coats to get a perfect coverage. This does dry really quickly though, so having to add a third coat is not that bad.

What do you think? It is such a gorgeous summer color, right?

Rescue Beauty Lounge 'Smile'

Hello darlings ♥

You might know that I absolutely love Rescue Beauty Lounge nail polishes, they are a huge guilty pleasure of mine. They are really pricey, but completely worth the money (in my opinion). Recently RBL released a long-awaited collection called Emoting Me. I had been expecting the collection for months, so I put aside some money and I pre-ordered some of the shades. One of the colors I picked up was 'Smile' :D

'Smile' is a bright pink-red creme with fine gold shimmer. The color looks more red in the pictures than it does in person. In person, it even seems to change from a darker pink, to a brighter coral-y pink. The color is absolutely perfect for summer~

The formula is amazing, as usual. I have two coats of 'Smile' with no top coat. It would probably look even better with a top coat, but I am ran out of mine :(  I also noticed that this dries extremely fast, much faster than most RBL. That is a huuuge plus for me!! ^_^ I love when nail polishes dry quickly~

This polish really does make me want to smile! The name just reminds me that no matter what happens, just smile :)

Shiro Wednesdays: Chimera

Happy Wednesday everyone! How are you enjoying this week?

As I mentioned before, I want to dedicate Wednesdays to Shiro Cosmetics because, well...they are just awesome! I have a lot of Shiro eyeshadows so it seems only right to share how I use them!

Today's look is inspired by the Shiro eyeshadow in 'Chimera' from the Full Metal Alchemist collection. FMA is one of my all-time favorite anime and this eyeshadow brought back a lot of memories. Very sad ones...Poor Nina! If you have watched it you know what I mean. Seriously...saddest moment ever. So I want to dedicate this to Nina's Chimera form~

NOTD: Angry Birds!

Hii :D I have a fun manicure to share with you all using these Angry Bird water decals from KKCenterhk. This is the first time I have used water decal stickers and it was really fun to use them for the first time!
Basically, you soak them in water, and use some tweezers to pick them up and stick them on your nails. I had these on for a week and they stayed on perfectly.
They are definitely much easier than doing nail art by hand! I still plan to use them more to really get the hang of them. In the mean time, I leave you with this mani. Sorry that my nails are really uneven right now :/ Ughh.

I used Rescue Beauty Lounge 'Bella' and the Spoiled 'Designated Driver'.

April Hits and Misses 2012

It's that time again! Time for my favorites and not so favorites for the month of April. This month has been crazy in trying new eyeshadows, so I wasn't very consistent with wearing the same eyeshadows more than once. But there are plenty of other products I've loving~

HITS

FACE
-Illamasqua Cream Pigment in 'Hollow'
This is a fabulous contour shade for those with light/pale skin. It is not harsh or obvious. If anything, it looks quite natural. You can build up the intensity from a very natural contour to a super defined hollow cheek. I have neglected this for a little while, and I finally started using it again. It is really amazing for my skin tone.
-MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish in 'Whisper of Gilt'
This is a lighter version of my Estee Lauder Modern Mercury highlighter, and it actually suits my skin better. I still love my EL one, but this has been my go-to highlighter since I purchased it.It is just a lovely golden shade.

LIPS
-Jack Black Lip Balm
Best. Lip Balm. Ever. Seriously.
I especially love the mint flavored one~ It feels tingly on my lips. Not much more to say other than that this is currently my HG lip balm!
-Revlon Lip Gloss in 'Crystal Lilac'
I love this range of Revlon glosses. They are really pigmented, creamy, and long-wearing. This particular shade is a lovely pinky-lilac with purple shimmers that is subtle enough to wear with dramatic eyes. It is also a quick and no-fail lip color that I can throw on as I head out the door.

EYES
-Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
I don't know what I would do without this stuff. This is my third tube! If you have never used it, you should give it a chance. It is amazing for sparkly or shimmery eyeshadows! I know some people don't like it, and that is because you have to know how to use it. Don't use it with mattes, and always wait for it to dry a little before you apply eyeshadows over it. Best stuff ever! Fyrinnae, you are seriously awesome ♥
-Urban Decay 24/7 Pencil Liner in 'Perversion'
I'm I done raving about this? Apparently not. Seriously black liner! Long-wearing and doesn't smudge or make me look like Gaara from the anime Naruto (although I wouldn't mind, he is one of my favorite characters). And just in case you don't know this is what he looks like:

 Swathches~

 Nails!
-Rescue Beauty Lounge Aqua Lily
I've only had this for about a week or so, and I am so in love with this! I was going to have a proper review, but unfortunately it is already sold out. Actually it sold out the day I received it...so, yeah. I don't want to have a review for something that is not available anymore...
I feel horrible posting it now, like some cruel person poking you with a stick. But it is my favorite polish for this entire month. It is the only aqua that doesn't look ugly on my nails!

Favorite Look of the Month
I don't have a post for this, but I can make a post for it if you guys want. I love this though. It is a Boba Fett inspired look using VDC and Lime Crime.

MISSES

-Neutrogena 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment
I love the scrub from this line, so I thought that the treatment would be good too. I was oh so naive. This didn't work. It couldn't work even it it's life depended on it. It was not hydrating at all either. I felt that it actually dried my skin a bit. So basically, to sum up, it sucked.
-Revlon Lip Butter in 'Cremesicle'
This is the orange version of 'Gumdrop', which I love! I thought a light orange would be so pretty for spring. Noooo. This is not orange, it is much too pale and nude. It makes me look like I have pale fish lip (oh yeah, sounds so attractive). The formula is good, it's just the color! I would say that maybe this would work for people with very pigmented lips, since the paleness might neutralize some of the pigmentation on the lips. My lips are already very pale though, and I guess this only adds to that. I really detest this color, I can't even express the loathing I have for it in words.
-Rescue Beauty Lounge IKB:2012
This is the other color that, alongside Aqua Lily, is currently sold out. I love the striking jelly blue! It is a really beautiful color. But, the formula is very hard to work with. The polish itself it not super thick, but it tends to goop up when you apply it. I don't even have swatches of it because it looked so gross. I would say you either have to be amazing at applying nail polishes to make this look good, or just get used to the formula until you get the application just right. I definitely need practice.

Have you used any of the products mentioned above? If so, what do you think of them? What are your favorites for April?

Rescue Beauty Lounge 'Halcyon'

Hello everyone!

Have you heard of the buzz surrounding the Rescue Beauty Lounge Fan Collection? It's been all the rave since the pre-order event. I was lucky enough to have ordered during the pre-order so I just received my nail polishes today. The collection had four polishes and I purchased three: Halcyon, Aqua Lily, and IKB:2012. The one I had to wear first was Halcyon! So here are some not so great swatches and a mini review. For future reference, I posted swatches on my FB page, and I am sure the other two colors will pop up there first as well, so check it out if you haven't yet.

 Price and where to Buy

These polishes are already on sale for a limited time on the RBL site. They are $20 each (price was increased slightly). They are still cheaper than Chanel polishes and much better quality!

Review

I love RBL polishes. They are my favorite expensive polishes and I treasure each and every one of them. I was so excited for this collection and now I finally have it. Halcyon is a murky sage green with pink micro-glitter (it actually reminds me of a nail polish version of VDC's The Fett eyeshadow). The formula was fantastic. One coat was decently pigmented, and two coats gives a complete opaque coverage. The two coats dried fairly quickly and it dried to a semi-glossy finish. I suggest using a top coat for optimum glossiness.
I am very happy with this color, but I wish that the either the pink shimmer was more pronounced or that the polish had something else to make it more complex. I appreciate the subtlety of the pink shimmer, but I also want to see more of it. Other than that, it is a gorgeous shade and I am very glad I bought it.

Top 5: Most Worn Nail Polishes

For all you who love to buy, collect, and use nail polishes, you know that it can be difficult to get a lot of use of ALL your nail polishes. I have quite a collection, although definitely not as many as most people. And although I love varying which nail polishes I use, I have a few that I always go back to. This isn't to say that these five are my FAVORITE nail polishes, not at all. These are simply colors that are easy to wear, no-fuss, and I know they will always look good on my nails. Here is my top 5 more worn nail polishes.

1. OPI Done Out in Deco
This was my first OPI nail polish and the beginning of my obsession with nail polishes. This is my third bottle.

Rescue Beauty Lounge 'Anne'

Hello everyone~ I hope you are all having a great day :)

Anne is described by RBL:
"Rumored to be a sorceress, Henry's second wife lends her short-lived name to this bewitching olive green with a pink-gold metallic iridescence. "
The color reminds me of a more sophisticated version of colors like MAC 'Mean and Green"and Hard Candy 'Beetle'.

Price and Availability

$18 on the Rescue Beauty Lounge website. This is limited edition. This was a gift from my dad, so no I did not purchase it.

Formula
I was very surprised and confused with this nail polish. The consistency is more watery than any other RBL polish I have tried before. I thought it was going to be sheer, but when I applied one coat, it wasn't sheer at all. One coat gives decent coverage, and two coats is completely opaque. Because of the thin formula it dries very fast. So you get opacity and a fast dry time. I am quite content, but I know some people will hate that the formula is thinner, although I did not have any problems applying it.

*Two coats of Anne

Verdict
$18 is a very steep price (of course not as bad as the Chanel price of $25).  If you absolutely love the color, then I completely recommend this polish. The formula overall is really great and all of RBL polish have:
. No Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP)
· No Formaldehyde
· No Formaldehyde Resin
· No Toluene
· No Animal Testing

 Rating: 9.5/10
Repurchase? Probably not. I like the color and formula, but this isn't my favorite RBL polish because the color doesn't suit me as well as some of my other RBLs. Never the less, it is a phenomenal polish and I can see why so many people voted to bring the color back.

Rescue Beauty Lounge 'Chinoise'

Hi everyone~
I have been a little slow with everything (swatches/posts/commenting), but I have been so busy with school. Finals are around the corner, so I might be a little inconsistent with my posting. Also, there is a crazy amount of rallies and protests at UCD right now. The campus is in slight chaos.
But anyways, here is a super quick swatch of Chinoise~

Chinoise is a bright, lacquered red. Ji describes it as it looking like the lacquer on a painted Chinese screen, and I completely agree~

Price  and Availability
$18 on the RBL website

Formula
The consistency of the polish was great. This one is more liquidy than my other RBLs, but it wasn't too runny or difficult to work with. It spread out nicely and very easily. This is where it gets tricky. I found that one coat was not sheer, but it was sort of see through. Its hard to explain. In other words, one coat was decently pigmented, but under certain lighting I could see my nail line. You can definitely get away with one coat, but maybe two coats would be the best. The thing I liked the most was the finish. It was

Here is one coat of Chinoise on my nail. It is the only thing I have on my nails (no base coat, no top coat).
Sorry for the messy application @_@

Huge Haul + First Impressions: Skyward Sword, Illamaqua, Lime Crime, RBL, and more

As you guys may know, I am recently started a makeup ban. But before I started my ban, I bought a few things and was gifted some things as well. Oddly enough, they all arrived here on Friday! I was bombarded with packages, which was really awesome! It felt like Christmas :)
Just warning you, it is a pretty big haul~

1. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Finally! No more waiting. I woke up early and got my ass to my nearest Game Stop to pick up my pre-order for Skywards Sword. I bought the Collectors Edition which includes the game, a limited edition Zelda Wiimote, and the 25th Anniversary Special Orchestra CD. I am loving it, but I know most of you don't cre for video games, so I will leave it at that.

Rescue Beauty Lounge 'Piu Mosso'

Hi lovelies~
Here is the second RBL polish from my most recent haul. ^_^

Piu Mosso ($18) is a dark navy polish with orange/copper and gold micro shimmer. The shimmer is almost unnoticeable in some lighting, and then in direct light it makes the polish look like outer space~ Full of sparkling stars *~*

 Price and Availability
$18 on the RBL website. This collection should be up sometime this month. I purchased mine during the pre-sale that is why I have mine earlier :D
Formula
Piu Mosso has a better formula than Poco A Poco. This is completely opaque in one coat! It is really amazing. Again though, I feel like this takes longer to try than most nail polishes. But besides the drying time, it is absolutely perfect! *NOTE: I wore this since Sunday night, and I went wild on my nails today. I cleaned and scrubbed floors like there was no tomorrow! I also only had one coat of Piu Mosso; no base coat or top coat, although I did use some cuticle oil before taking pictures. Notice that I did not get any chipping, only some tip wear.

Swatches

Verdict
Besides the price and drying time, this polish is absolutely perfect. The color will be stunning for fall and winter, and it is such a great alternative to plain black or any other dark colored polish. What makes this so unique and awesome if 1) the shimmer and 2)the amazing formulation. I am so completely happy I purchased this color from the collection~~~♥

Rating: 9.5/10
Recommend? You are crazy if you love dark polishes and don't get this @_@ So yes, I highly recommend it!
Repurchase? Unfortunately, this is limited edition T_T I hate buying back ups, but I do love this color a lot. What should I do???? I am experiencing a great dilemma!

So what do you gals think of this color? Yae or Nay? ^_~

Rescue Beauty Lounge 'Poco A Poco'

Sorry about the delay in the swatches! I will have up Piu Mosso posted tonight @_@

Check out my RBL Haul about Poco A Poco and Piu Mosso HERE
Piu Mosso (Left)   /  Poco A Poco (Right)

Poco A Poco is a mauve-pink  with incredible golden, pink, and purple shimmer. It is soft and feminine, but it still carries a punch of color and uniqueness. The shimmer is subtle in indoor lighting, but in sunlight or any direct light, it looks like the mauve-pink is inflamed in sunlight. The shimmer is absolutely gorgeous, Ji (the owner of RBL) really outdid her self.

Formula
Like all RBL polishes, this has an amazingly smooth formula. It goes opaque in 2 coats. One coat is not all that sheer though, and if you have have nice nails that are not stained, you can pull of one coat. I find that this takes a little bit longer to dry, but that can be fixed by applying a fast drying top coat.

Swatches
*Excuse the mega crappy swatches and that little fiber that got stuck on the nail of my middle finger!

Verdict
I love everything about this polish! I love the color so much. I can't think of any dupes for this, but the closest thing to it would be Essie Demure Vixen. They are similar in that they both are mauve-pinks and have beautiful micro-shimmer. The only thing that bothers me is the drying time of the polish. I am very impatient with the time it takes for polish to dry, and this one takes longer that I would hope.Oh the the price is a factor too. At $18 a bottle, these are very expensive.

Rating: 9.5/10
Recommend? If you are a RBL fan you definitely need this and I recommend it to you!
Repurchase? Well this is limited edition unfortunately, so I don't think I would be able to repurchase it. But I think I should be fine with one bottle of this :D

Check out some other more amazing swatches HERE
What do you think of this color? Do you have any dupes for this shade?
