While making my NARS eyeshadow collection post, I realized I only had one EOTD post using those NARS shadows. So I just HAD to make some looks with the other colors~ I know that the majority of woman prefer neutral looks, so my first look is a dark, sultry, smokey eye look. Hope you like it :D
*I am going to do this picture tutorial a little bit different. Please tell me whether you prefer this way or the old way better.

This is the finished look:
Products Used
-Maybelline Color Tattoo 'Tough as Taupe'
-NARS 'Ashes To Ashes' eyeshadow
-NARS 'Mekong' eyeshadow
-NARS 'Galapagos' eyeshadow
-Wet n Wild 'Comfort Zone Palette (a shimmery pale gold as inner corner highlight)
-L'oreal mascara
-Dolly Wink liquid liner
-KKCenterhk ES A855 Lashes
Tutorial
1. Apply a primer or color base. I am using a sheer coat of Maybelline's 'Tough as Taupe.'
2. Apply 'Ashes to Ashes' or any taupe color on the lid and on the crease.
3. With an angled brush, make a defined line going from the outer corner of the eye, above the crease, and close to the inner corner of the eye with 'Mekong' eyeshadow. We are making something resembling a "cut crease" but it will be softer and more blended that a cut crease.
If you don't have Mekong a cheap alternative is the darkest brown in the Wet n Wild Comfort Zone palette. That color is a very close dupe, if not an even better version of Mekong.
4.With a fluffy brush, blend away!~ You can blend it as much as you want or if you want a harsher line, don't blend too much.
5.You can stop on step #4, but I kept going and applied 'Galapagos' just above Mekong. I blended it the best I could (I was in a huge rush so I got sloppy). I also applied 'Mekong' very close to the lower lash line with a bit of 'Galapagos' right below it.
If you don't have Galapagos, you can skip this step or use any chocolaty brown.
6. Now you can apply mascara, liquid liner, and lashes. I also went back and fixed the eyeshadows slightly. I noticed 'Mekong' was too blended out so I made those areas a little darker by applying more of 'Mekong'. Lastly, I added a highlight in the inner corner to brighten up the look slightly.
You are finished!~ This is great for a night out. It is a dark and sexy look that can be worn with just about any outfit.
Would you wear this look? What would you wear this look with (lipstick colors, outfits, etc.)?

ReplyDeleteI really like neutral but bold looks, this is gorgeous!! =)
ReplyDeleteLove this look! Will definately have to try this out. So glad I just found your blog :)
ReplyDeleteno you did not say wet and wild barand is better than mekong! thats like saying payless shoes are better than louboutins. you get what you pay for! wet and wild will never compare with mac or nars in color, quality, overall payoff, variety, etc
ReplyDeleteI agree that a lot of the times more expensive brands are better quality. But sometime you are just paying for beautiful packaging and for the brand name. There are eyeshadows (some of them, not all of them) from Wet n Wild that are much better quality than some NARS or MAC eyeshaows , but of course you don't get wonderful packaging of those higher end brands. At least that is just my personal experience. If for you, MAC and NARS works better, then my all means stick with the brands that work for you :)
