FOTD: Summer Brights

Greetings from the Dark Side!~

Maybe you all have noticed, but I have been going through a very uninspiring couple of weeks with my makeup. I haven't been extremely excited with my makeup and I have hardly had the desire to put on makeup. However, today was a bit different. I wanted to wear something bright and fun. I was really just feeling in the mood to try something different so I ended up with this bright look. I also tried out two new products that I recently purchased. I really like it and I hope you do too!!

Indie Polish 'Tinkerbell'

Greetings from the Dark Side!~

My obsession with indie nail polishes has grown so much these past months, and I have really enjoyed trying out new brands. One of my most recent discoveries is a Canada-based company called Indie Polish. I found them on Etsy (I absolutely love Etsy!!), and I have really enjoyed the two polishes I have purchased so far. 'Tinkerbell' was a recent purchase. I thought it was such a gorgeous glitter, I just had to share it with you all!

Tinkerbell is a sheer base with iridescent glitter, small and big, as well as a big blue glitters. It catches the light so amazingly and one coat is more than enough to look amazing on the nails. I think this was a limited edition color, although I really hope it is brought back because it is a really lovely polish!

One coat of 'Tinkerbell' over two coats of OPI 'What's With the Cattitude?'
What do you think of this polish? Yay or nay?

Review: YSL Faux Cils Mascara

Greetings from the Dark Side!

Today, I am going to review a highly raved mascara that I've been using for the past two months. This is the YSL Faux Cils mascara, a pretty tube with a hefty price tag of $30. This was given to me as a present for Christmas and I was delighted to finally have the chance to try this out. I personally have always prefered drugstore mascaras because they are cheaper, but it was nice to try out a high end one for a change, especially one that has such amazing reviews. Will the YSL Faux Cils blow me away? Or will drugstore mascaras win me over once more? Keep reading for a full review~

FOTD: Sick of Swimming (Ft. Sephora Ariel Palette)

Greetings from the Dark Side!
The third row of the Sephora Ariel palette offers a great mix of colorful shades. I wanted to create something brighter and less reminiscent of the ocean/mermaids. I personally just love the green shades in this palette! It is different, but I hope you like it!

Lac Attack 'Holidays in Hogsmeade'

Greetings from the Dark Side~!

As I mentioned in an previous haul, I have been really excited about finally owning the Lac Attack Magical Musings collection (Harry Potter inspired nail polishes). I wanted to play around with them and see how I like them. The first color I reached for was 'Holidays in Hogsmeade'. This fun glitter has been calling my name so I just applied one coat over Covergirl's 'Orange Oasis' Outlast Glosstini.

Holidays in Hogsmeade is a transparent base with small-medium sized emerald green glitter, medium sized glitter, and large white glitter.  This glitter is very bright, fun, and definitely reminiscent of the holidays. Even though one coat has sparse glitter, the glitter stands out really nicely. The glitter dries very quickly and was not difficult to apply at all. You would be able to easily apply 2-3 coats for a more opaque coverage.

My first impression of Lac Attack is definitely a good one! Of course, I am being a bit biased because it is a nail polish inspired by Harry Potter! Can you blame me? The name is just so cute!

FOTD: Unfortunate Souls (Ft. Sephora Ariel Palette)

Greetings from the Dark Side!

Here is another sea-blue look using the Sephora Ariel palette. I decided to use all the eyeshadows from the second row in the palette to create a look and see how it works out. I actually love how the blues on the lid look together! I hope you like it too :)

FOTD: Blue Lagoon (Ft. Sephora Ariel Palette)

Greetings from the Dark Side ^_^

I created a simple blue look using the Sephora Ariel Storylook Palette~ This is an easy way to wear blue that does not look super crazy or in your face. Or maybe it does look crazy and I'm just in denial xD

First Impression: Sephora Ariel Storylook Palette

Greetings from the Dark Side!

I am excited to show you a first look of the new Sephora Disney Storylook Palette. This is Volume 3 and it is based on Ariel from The Little Mermaid. The Little Mermaid is one of my all-time favorite Disney movies, and the Hans Christian Andersen version is my favorite fairy tale. So as you could imagine, I was very thrilled to see Sephora release an Ariel collection. So without further adieu, here is my first impression of the Ariel Storylook Palette~

                                                                         Packaging

If you have seen the Cinderella or Jasmine palette, you have an idea of the packaging is like. The palette comes inside a box. The outer box is really cute actually, and you can see it in the photo below:

Empties #7

Greetings from the Dark Side :D

I have some products that I used up in the month of May to show you! I like to see what I have used up and how I feel about those products. So if you want to see some mini reviews for these products, keep reading.

1. Seche Vite Top Coat
This stuff is awesome! I really love how shiny it makes my nails look. I have heard that Seche Vite has ingredients that are bad for you though, so I decided to finish this one up and find another alternative. I would repurchase this but INM Out the Door works just as well and it does not contain the main bad ingredients that Seche Vite does.

2. Julep Cuticle Oil
I've had this stuff for a while now, and I really like it! My favorite thing about it is that it smells like lemongrass. It keeps my cuticles looking really nice too! However, this stuff if expensive. I have since moved on to using No Lift Nails Avocado Cuticle Oil. It smells good, works great, and it much cheaper!

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure 'Butterscotch'

Greetings from the Dark Side~!

Isn't it so difficult to find a really good yellow nail polish? I have been hunting for the perfect yellow nail polish for some time now. My search lead me to this Sally Hansen nail polish in the color 'Butterscotch'.

Butterscotch is a muted buttery yellow cream. For a yellow, it has a really great formula. It is opaque in two coats and it is not streaky or sheer. It did not chip on my nails for a week either!

Is this the perfect yellow nail polish? It could be. It has an amazing formula and staying power. However, for me, it is not the perfect yellow. Why? Well it just is not bright enough. Like the name suggests, this is a butterscotch yellow. This meas it is not a sunny yellow, but rather a yellow with a slight brown/caramel undertone. I am looking for a bright sunny yellow, and this is just not it. But if you want a mellowed out yellow that is not the center of attention, this would be really perfect!

Indie Nail Polish Haul: HARE, Lac Attack, Glitter Daze, Pahlish, and More

Greetings from the Dark Side!~

For the past month, I have been buying quite a few different indie nails polishes. I have been a little obsessed to be honest! Indie polishes are just so awesome!!!

1. Lac Attack Magical Musings Collection
Harry Potter inspired nail polishes! Enough said xD
I have been wanting since they came out, and I finally had the chance to wishlist it and get the entire collection~! Aren't they gorgeous?!

HARE Polish 'Dauphine of Decadence'

Greetings from the Dark Side~

Here is another HARE from my collection ♥ I absolutely adore HARE nail polishes!! Definitely one of my favorite nail polish brands~

Dauphine of Decadence is a mix of gold square glitter, gold circle glitter, and white circle glitter in a transparent base. This is a glitter polish and it works best over other nail polishes. The glitter is very smooth and easy to work with, and it adds a beautiful accent to the nails.

I used one coat of 'Dauphine of Decadence' over two coats of Rescue Beauty Lounge 'Smile'. You can definitely build this glitter up to opaquely cover the nail, but it would take at least two more coats.

FOTD: Utopia

Greetings from the Dark Side!

Today, I will be showing you what the Makeup Geek loose pigment in Utopia (from my latest haul) looks like. This is one of the first times I have used this pigment, and I am still trying to find the best way to use it. In the today's look, I used a flat brush to apply it, which honestly is probably not the best application method. It does look a little bumpy, so I still need to find a better way to apply it! Anyway, hope you like it!

Haul: + First Impression: Makeup Geek Cosmetics

Greetings from the Dark Side!

Sorry for the mini hiatus. If you follow me on Facebook you might know that my dog Chewie was sadly run over by a car. Thankfully (and surprisingly because he was run over with both the front and back tires of the car), he did not receive too much damage aside from some bruises and a small fracture on his pelvic bone. I have been spending all my spare time making sure he is recovering and that he is not alone. He is still in a lot of pain, so he tends to cry/whimper a lot. It is really quite depressing. He is doing a little better though, and I finally feel at ease to take the time to blog. So onto less depressing news...

You might have also noticed that I have not posted many hauls. That is because I have not been buying much makeup recently; it is so great to be cutting down my spending! I did, however, order my first purchase from Makeup Geek Cosmetics. I have heard so much about Makeup Geek so I definitely had to try them out for myself  :) I only bought four things: three pan eyeshadows and one loose pigment.
