First Impression: Per-fekt Brow Perfection Gel

Hello lovely readers!
As someone with naturally thick eyebrows, I always find it difficult to tame the those bushy caterpillars. They look better once I have plucked and cleaned them up, but they always tend to stay out of place. On a recent trip to Sephora, this product caught my attention. This Per-fekt Brow Perfection Gel claims to "condition and tame busy eyebrows without leaving them stiff, flaking or fading". I was intrigued by a clear gel that would not only serve to condition my eyebrows, but also make them look  neater. It also says that you can use this on its own or as a seal for any eyebrow powders/pencils/gels you use. Let's see how well this actually works!

Review: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser

Greetings from the Dark Side~

Although I absolutely love to try out new products, once in a while I find a product that works so well for me that I will stick to it indefinitely. This has been the case for my undereye concealer, Maybelline's Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Erase in the shade 'Neutralizer'.

Diablo II: Sorceress

Greetings friends! If you have followed my blog for a while, you might have seen some of my Diablo III inspired looks. This look is inspired by the Sorceress from Diablo II, a game which I did play myself a loooong time ago. For this look I wanted to play up on the greens and blues of her character, but do it in a more subtle way. The focus of this look is definitely the lower lash line, which is a bright blue  with a hint of purple inspired by the Sorceress staff and magic. I used a vampy purple on my lips because the Sorceress seems to have a dark lip color as well.  I used mostly all Victorian Disco Cosmetics for this look~
*This look was requested by someone a while back, but I cannot remember who it was! If you are the one who requested it, please let me know so that I can give you credit!

Victorian Disco Cosmeitcs 'Zombie Flesh'

Hello, and welcome to The Dark Side of Beauty!

I want to share an amazing indie nail polish find:  this awesome holographic nail polish from Victorian Disco Cosmetics. I am very much in love with VDC eyeshadows, but I think I just fell in love even more with VDC because of this incredible polish. This is 'Zombie Flesh', the first nail polish in the VDC line.

'Zombie Flesh' is a seafoam green that has a holographic effect. The holo effect makes it look like a vibrant emerald green in some angles, and a muted minty green in others. It has the perfect formula as well as total opacity in two coats. It dries very quickly too.

I only have a mini size, but it is a perfect size to try out a color before committing to buy a full size. The only thing I would change is the fact that the mini size does not have a label on it. I would prefer to know the name of the polish and what brand it is from.

Top 5: Eye Brushes

Hello lovely readers! Thank you all for taking a bit of your time to visit my blog ^_^
Today I want to share my top 5 favorite eye brushes. These are the brushes that I use all the time and that I have come to absolutely love. Let me preface this by saying that there are so many awesome inexpensive brands out there that you can choose from. I know many of you love Sigma and Sedona Lace, but I have never tried any of their brushes. I am very content with what I use now and, of course, you do not have to use what I do! So Let's get started!!

FOTD and EOTD: Sephora Ariel Palette

Welcome dark siders!

If you have been following the newest Sephora Disney collection, you might know that the Ariel collection will be arriving in stores soon. I was lucky enough to get my Ariel Storylook Palette early but I have yet to purchase anything else in the collection (I really want the mirror). So, in the mean time, I am still using my palette to create different looks. Recently, I created a smokey look using the colors 'Jetsam' and 'Caspian Sea' (see the FOTD photo). I also created a reverse smokey eye using the entire last row of the palette (see the EOTD photo).

I know a lot of people did not particularly love this palette, but I really do. I think the colors are amazing~! If you ever get a chance to get this palette, I really recommend it :D It is a great collector's item than you can actually use to create several different makeup looks!

Tag: Get Your Freak On

Hello gorgeous people on teh internetz!

I was tagged by Katie from Oh To Feel Pretty (and if you don't follow her, you totally should!) to do this tag. This sounded like so much fun so I just had to do it!!

1. What's a nickname only your family calls you?
Hmmm, I'm not a nickname kind of person, and my name doesn't adjust well to nicknames. The closest thing to a nickname I have is "Nanshii". I am not totally sure why people have the tendency to do that to my name...I guess it sounds cuter? I have no clue! I really am not into nicknames!

2. What's a weird habit of yours?
Correcting people's English, all the time! I mostly correct people's pronunciation of words. I hate that I do that, but I can't help it. I also hate when people text in incomprehensible text codding. I've always said that if a guy could write/text me in perfect English, I would marry him in a heartbeat! xD
Another weird thing I do is that I always have to look inside my shower curtains to make sure no one is in there...I think I've done that since I was a child!

3. Do you have any weird phobias?
For sure. My weirdest two are my fear of aliens and of orange peels. I lived in the outskirts of a city growing up, and it was isolated and dark at night. My brothers loved to watch alien documentaries and it scared the crap out of me. I am still super scared of aliens, but fascinated at the same time.
I also hate orange skins so much, they just creep me out because they are all bumpy. I have no problems with lemons or other citrus fruits, just oranges.

4. What's a song you secretly love to blast and belt out when you're alone?
'The Beast and the Harlot' by Avenged Sevenfold. I have listened to this song every single day since I was in middle school. I just love the badassery that is this song.
5. What's one of your biggest pet peeves?
When someone pretends to be "geeky/nerdy" because it suddenly becomes "cool" to be into video games/ anime/etc.
Also when people try to use fancy vocabulary but they don't even know the meaning of the words they are using. Either look it up on the dictionary or just use words you actually know.

6. What's one of your nervous habits?
I move my feet or tap my feet against the floor. I hate doing this, it really annoys me. But I always catch myself doing it when I am really nervous.

7. What side of the bed do you sleep on?
The all over side? xD
I move around a lot, haha.

8. What was your first stuffed animal and it's name?
I honestly don't remember. I had a bunch of stuffed animals growing up, but I was not very attached to them. The only stuffed animal I actually remember was a Winnie the Pooh bear that I got when I went to the hospital. I was about 4 years old and I almost died of dehydration (I'm still not sure how the hell that happened), and I got the Winnie the Pooh stuffed animal after my stay at the hospital. It was just called Winnie the Pooh, how original!

9. What's the drink you always order at starbucks?

I don't really go to Starbucks, but if I do I tend to order a White Chocolate Mocha. It is really good!

10. What's a beauty rule you preach, but never actually practice?
To eat healthy and drink a lot of water. I try to, but I can never stick to it!

11. Which way do you face in the shower?
Away from the water mostly.

12. Do you have any 'weird' body 'skills'?
Not that I'm aware of O_o"

13. What's your favorite comfort food that's 'bad' but you love to eat it anyways?
Chips, for sure. It doesn't seem like a comfort food, but it is for me. I think I have associated chips with hanging out and having a good time with my friends because we always have chips at parties and sleepovers. When I eat chips, they make me think of how good I feel when I am with my friends. Wow, that is super weird!
 14. What's a phrase or exclamation you always say?
That's tough. I don't really pay attention to what I say. But I think I say "Oh, shit" a lot xD I tend to curse a lot when I'm surprised or when I'm playing video games, and I think "oh, shit" takes the cake!

15. Time to sleep, what are you actually wearing?
Tank top or a band tee with shorts or pajama pants. It depends on how hot or how cold it is.

16. What did you used to wear that you thought was cool but now you realize it wasn't that hot?
Ah, I'm thinking back to my middle school and high schools days. I was completely emo  when I was in high school. I wore like a bazillion bracelets and necklaces that I thought looked super awesome, but I think it made me look like a douche. When I was in middle school everyone used to roll up their pant legs up and tucked them in to make them shorter. I'm not sure what was up with that but I did it too for a little while. Then I realized that it was totally lame and completely pointless ;D

I tag:

And anyone else who wants to do this tag :)

A Song of Ice and Fire Series: House Greyjoy

"We Do Not Sow."

House Greyjoy is the great house of Westeros that rules over the Iron Islands. I personally have found this family to be really interesting and quite different from most of the other houses. Their motto, "We do not sow", and their refrain "what's dead may never die" (as part of the worship for the Drowned God) are one of my favorites amongst all the houses because they are strong words that the house actually follows. Their sigil is a golden kraken on a black field. I used both black and gold as the main colors and I tried to take some of the characteristics of the kraken to create a shape for this look.

First Impression: Wet n Wild Pop Art Craze Eyeshadow Trios

 Greeting Dark Siders!

If you have not heard the buzz surrounding the new Wet n Wild Pop Art Craze collection, then you probably live under a rock. For me personally, this collection was one of the most exciting releases of this summer. Why? Well, I adore Wet n Wild products, especially their Limited Edition stuff. These trios are also really affordable at $2.99 each! And, if you have not seen the picture below of the 6 new trios, all six trios are full of fun, bright colors! These colors are not very typical of drusgtore eyeshadows which is why I am really excited about them. But, now let's see if these are actually worth the hype!

Can you see my Death Note mouse pad? It is so cute! I got it at Anime Expo!

                                                          Trio Swatches and First Impression

You're 15 Minutes Aren't Up!
This trio has a satin pink, a satin light purple, and a sheer sunny yellow. This was okay, it did not have terrible pigmentation but the colors are not as bright as I thought they would be. The yellow is a bit powdery too but it is probably one of the brightest yellows I have seen for drugstore makeup. The pink and the purple are bit lackluster; they seem very basic and not all that pigmented. I am not a huge fan of this particular trio.

FOTD: YOLO! (Ft. Victorian Disco Cosmetics)

Hi hi Dark Siders!

I have another look today using the colors from the Victorian Disco Cosmetics Interwebz collection~ This time I used the shade #yolo as the main color for this look. #yolo is a stunning green, wouldn't you agree? It is ironic because I hate, no detest, the YOLO meme. I think this might be because the county I live in is actually called Yolo County. So as you can imagine, when people use the YOLO saying in my county it gets pretty old. But this color is stunning so I will get past my hate for that saying xD

FOTD: Bro, Do You Even Lift? (Ft. Victorian Disco Cosmetics)

I couldn't resist using the name of one of the eyeshadows I used as the title for this look! And as you might know it is also an internet meme. That is because the eyeshadows I am using today are from the Victorian Disco Cosmetics Interwebz collection, a collection of eyeshadows named after internet memes. It's quite amusing, really!

Blog Love: The First Mess

Greetings from the Dark Side!

I wanted to share with you something a little different, my love for a food blog called The First Mess.

For the past month or so, I have changed my eating habits considerably. I am not vegetarian or vegan, but I do love to find better ways to eat healthier. For me, it usually comes down to finding great recipes that will incorporate healthy foods into my diet. The First Mess has amazing recipes that are both healthy and yummy ♥ I only found Laura's website (Laura is the author) a week ago, but I have been super obsessed with making her recipes. Everything recipe I have tried is really easy to make and insanely delicious. Not only does her website have amazing recipes, but it has beautiful photography as well! If you are looking for some great healthy feel-good recipes, I highly recommend checking out her site! Beauty starts on the inside, so why not treat your body to some delicious and nutritious meals? ;)

GlitterDaze 'My White Lighter'

Greetings from the Dark Side ♥

Is anyone else a fan of the show Charmed? I used to watch the show growing up, and I recently watched it again. GlitterDaze has a collection inspired by the show, and one color in particular caught my eye: My White Lighter. I also saw this color on Let Them Have Polish and I completely fell in love with it! Not only is it a gorgeous shade, but it also glows in the dark!

My White Lighter is has a sheer icy white base with insane amounts of icy blue glitter. The result is a beautiful minty white with glowing blue speckles. You can use this on its own, but I like how it looks over a plain white nail polish. In the photo above I used one coat of Lime Crime 'Milky Ways' with two coats of 'My White Lighter' on top.  I love how it looks! Below you can see how one coat of 'My White Lighter looks on its own:

I really love this! It is really unique and beautiful. If you want to see how it looks in the dark, check out Cristina's post~

FOTD: My Updated Everyday Look

Hi hi Dark Siders! :)

I don't know if most of you do this, but when I travel anywhere, I try to keep my makeup travel bag as small as possible. I try to take only essential products to create easy and quick makeup looks. Because I was in Los Angeles for 5 days, I wanted a quick and simple look that would be effortless and pretty. I ended up pretty much using the same products every day on my trip, and I am still following that same routine even now. It has pretty much become my "everyday look".

Lac Attack 'Beauxbatons Academy'

Good evening Dark Siders!

For all of those of you who are not aware, I attended Anime Expo 2013 this past weekend (which is why I have not posted anything in days!) I had so much fun and had such an amazing experience! I will post some pictures tomorrow to show you some of the things I saw at AX 2013.

But now I am back home and ready to blog about some awesome polishes. I shared this swatch on my Facebook page, but I want to share it here as well. This is Lac Attack 'Beauxbatons Academy', a polish inspired by the amazing world of Harry Potter.

Beauxbatons Academy is a semi-sheer blue-toned white with bright blue, white, black, and yellow glitters. Because it is a white base, it is not the most pigmented nail polish. You will need 3 coats for full opacity. Two coats will give you a pretty but slightly sheer look. What makes this polish stand out is the mixture of blue and yellow glitter. The blue and yellow flecks look amazing against the off-white base. This polish does not look amazing on my skin tone, but I really do love the mixture of colors in this! As a Harry Potter fanatic, I am particularly digging this polish xD

Thank you for reading ♥
Until next time!

A Song of Ice and Fire Series: House Tully

"Family, Duty, Honor."

House Tully is one of the great houses in the Seven Kingdoms and which rules the Riverlands; their seat of power lies in Riverrun. The house sigil is silver trout leaping on a blue and red striped field. Catelyn Stark, a major character in the series, is part of the Tully family, therefore making House Tully an important house in the series.
