Cosplay Makeup Tutorial: Hyuuga Hinata (Naruto)

Greetings from the Dark Side!
*I posted this tutorial on my cosplay blog, but since it is makeup-related, I will post it here too!

Today I will be sharing with you guys a simple makeup tutorial for the makeup I wear with my Hinata cosplay. I have received tons of requests to do this in the past, so I am excited to finally share this! The makeup I wear could be way more complicated (I could wear lashes on my lower lash line or contour a lot), but I find that this makeup has worked the best for me. The white mesh lenses I wear are a little creepy, but I like how they make my cosplay look! Wearing lenses is totally up to you; don't feel like absolutely have to wear any. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the tutorial!

                                                                                                             Products Used

                                                                                                                      Tutorial

1. Start out by using a primer or concealer all over your lids. I used the Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer to conceal any discoloration around my eyes and to act as a base for the rest of the makeup I will be using.

2. Use an eyeshadow or setting powder to set the concealer. I used the ELF Undereye Setting Powder.

3. Eyeliner is going to be your best friend with most anime makeup, so take a liquid eyeliner and line your lash line. You can make this as dramatic as you'd like. I went quite subtle with my eyeliner this time around! I used the Jesse's Girl liquid eyeliner.

4. Apply a generous coat of mascara. I used the L'oreal Voluminous mascara.

5. Apply false lashes. I used my favorite lashes, the Ardel #105 lashes.

6. Apply a bit of black eyeshadow on the end portion of the lower lash line (you can also go over that part with a bit of liquid liner).

7. Apply a shimmery champagne eyeshadow on the inner half of the lower lash line. This will brighten up and enlarge the eyes.

8. With a neutral light brown, contour the eye socket to add dimension to the eyes.'

9. Fill in your eyebrows with a blue eyeshadow. You can also cover the eyebrows and then draw them in (I  personally don't like doing that).

10. If you are using contacts, now is the time to put them in! I usually put contacts in first, but I cannot see with them so I have to put them in last. They do sometimes make my eyes really watery and it can ruin my makeup a bit (like it did in this case!).

Thank you all for joining me and I hope this simple tutorial is helpful to someone out there ^_~

Kill La Kill Series: Fight Club Mako

"Winning at friendship means winning at life!"

Mankanshoku Mako is by far my favorite character from Kill la Kill! She is so randomly awesome and cute! However, for a few moments in the serious we got to see her as a badass member of the Fight Club with her Two-Star goku uniform (the best uniform by far IMO). I loved seeing her in her goku uniform because she totally reminds me of some delinquent yakuza-ish anime character. Instead of doing something too neutral and cuteish, I decided to do a neutral look with a pop of blue, red, and a bit of black. This is a easy way to wear color AND it totally doubles as a subtle 4th of July look!

Kill la Kill Series: Harime Nui

"All memories are lost the moment a girl changes her underwear.

Ah, Harime Nui. You were a delightfully bat-shit crazy character in Kill la Kill. Without giving any spoliers, I'll say to not let her cute appearance and demeanor fool you. She is insanely cute, and insanely...well, for a lack of a better term, insane. She was a very refreshing character and I enjoyed seeing her scenes because she has a hilarious personality! For this look, I wanted to do something kind of cute, but also a little edgy and fun (just like her!). And for the fun of it, I decided to add her signature purple eye patch ( it is in the shape of the Japanese katakana character for the sound "nu" and "i" combined, cleverly forming her name). It is so wearable (note: sarcasm)! I'm totally going to work like this xD

Kill la Kill Series: Matoi Ryuuko

To hell with your opinion! I'll take my own path no matter what anyone else says!”

Matoi Ryuuko is the main protagonist of the anime KILL la KILL. She is a tomboy who arrives at Honnouji Academy searching for the other half of her scissor blade, a clue that will help her find the person who murdered her father. Throughout the series, Ryuuko is a freaking badass character! I really loved her as a character and enjoyed seeing her in the show. She is a tomboy at heart, but she also displays a heartwarming girly side. For this Ryuuko inspired look, I decided to go for a darker blue and red look, since blue and red are her signature colors. I also added a bit of yellow from the yellow of her outfit (aka Senketsu's eye). I hope you enjoy this look!

World of Warcraft Series: Alexstrasza

"Life is my Aspect, Dark One, and I, like all mothers, know both the pain and wonders that entails!"

Alexstrasza, the Life-Binder and Dragonqueen, is an "immense dragon...colored a deep, rich red that seems to shimmer and dance before your eyes" (source). For this look, I wanted to use red, purple, and gold as the main colors.

World of Warcraft Series: Nozdormu

"Time is a tangled web. Try not to dwell on all the loose ends."

Here is another WoW inspired look for all of you, and another one inspired by the Dragon Aspects. This one is inspired by Nozdormu, The Timeless One. He is a "bronze dragon, with scales of a metallic golden-brown color, and can arrange sand to conform to his body, cementing into one definite form" (source). I used the artwork below for inspiration, using neutral colors (golds and browns) as well as a bright pop of blue. I am still super obsessed with using glitter so I threw some gold glitter into this as well! I hope you enjoy this tutorial :)

World of Warcraft Series: Deathwing

"And all will burn beneath the shadow of my wings..."

I am quite excited to show you my Deathwing inspired look! Deathwing is one of the Dragon Aspects from World of Warcraft, the MMORPG game. Deathwing the Destroyer is described as a "massive monstrosity before you rises up like a black, crag-covered mountain of scales and hide. The head is a spade-like terror spiked with cruel red eyes that shine with a frightening malevolence. Rivulets of lava and magma are visible beneath the great wyrm’s scorched scales" (source). I wanted to use black, red, and orange for this look and I am pretty happy with the result! I hope you all like it as well!

Star Wars Series: Stormtroopers

"These aren't the droids we're looking for."

I continue this Star Wars series with a character just as classic as Darth Vader himself, the Stormtrooper. Stormtroopers are in just about any kind of Star Wars related thing you see. It should be no surprise then that I decided to create a look based on these guys! Stormtroopers are soldiers that originate from the Jango Fett clones that were created to fight the Clone Wars for the Republic. Later they became Imperial soldiers for Emperor Palpatine when the Galactic Republic was reformed into the Galactic Empire. Many stormtroopers are still clones, but there are also many other non-clone soldiers among their ranks.

Star Wars Series: Darth Vader

"You don't know the power of the Dark Side" -Darth Vader

Darth Vader is not just one of favorite Star Wars characters, but he is also one of the most iconic character in the series. He is one of the main antagonists of the Star Wars saga, yet he is also redeemed by his sacrifice in the end. When I thought about creating a Darth Vader look, I have to say I was quite intimidated; I didn't know how I could do any justice to his character. I knew I wanted something dark and smokey, but I wanted to add in red for his lightsaber too. I also wanted to add a bit of light, since he is not entirely a bad character which resulted in me adding some silver glitter. The sparkles over the black base in this look also are very reminiscent of all the space/galaxy scenes throughout the films. I was quite pleased with the outcome, and I hope you all like it as well!

Star Wars Series: Boba Fett

Greetings from the Dark Side!

I am really excited to finally bring you another Star Wars inspired look! I should really have done lots of these by now since my blog name is inspired by Star Wars after all! Today I will be sharing my Boba Fett inspired look. Boba Fett, a Madalorian bounty hunter and the clone of Jango Fett, is one of favorite characters from Star Wars, mostly because I really like his armor. So I was very excited to try to create a look inspired by him!

DIY Tutorial: Pressed Eyeshadow Palette

Greetings from the Dark Side~

Are you tired of having a bunch of loose eyeshadows? Do you want a better way to use and store all those jars and baggies of loose eyeshadows? Well you've come to the right place because today I will show you how you can turn those loose eyeshadows into some pressed eyeshadow palettes! It is not as hard as you might think and the result can be phenomenal!

Disney Series: Princess Jasmine (Aladdin)

Greetings my darlings!

I am a huge fan of Disney's Aladdin! When I was young, Aladdin was one of my favorite movies and I watched it all the time. I have always loved Jasmine's red outfit, more so than her usual blue outfit. I knew that if I did a Jasmine inspired look, I wanted it to be inspired by the red outfit, so that is what I'm doing today! I borrowed some aspects of the Arabic-style makeup: lots of eyeliner in the elongated, cat-eye shape. I knew I wanted to incorporate red in this look, but I didn't want it to be overpowering. So instead of doing a mostly red eye look, I made a neutral gold smokey eye with red on the lower lash line. I kept the rest of my face very neutral too. I quite like the way it turned out and I hope you all like this look too :D Keep reading for a step-by-step tutorial~

Disney Series: Belle (Beauty and the Beast)

Bonjour my lovely readers!

I apologize for the extreme delay with this post. Some of you might know this, but for those of those who don't know, I will say it again: I am a college senior and I *hopefully* will be getting my Bachelor's degree in about three weeks. I am really busy trying to pass all my classes so I can graduate already! But, even if this post is late, I still wanted to post it this week :D I will have the Jasmine inspired look this week too so look out for that one!

I love Beauty and the Beast! I was looking forward to doing this because Belle is my best friend's favorite princess. No joking, she has a shrine of Belle collectibles xD This look was a bit difficult for me because I felt like yellow was the only color I could work with. But I ended up incorporating a bit of brown and gold into as well. I wanted to keep my lips very neutral so I choose to wear Chanel's Rouge Coco in 'Mademoiselle'. Kind of fitting, don't you think (since she is French)? Anyway, I hope you like the look!

Disney Series: Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty)

"The gleam in your eyes is so familiar a gleam"

I am excited and also very hesitant to show you my Princess Aurora inspired look. Aurora is one of my favorite princesses and Sleeping Beauty is one of my favorite Disney films, but I found this look to be super difficult! I tried to do this look three times and I disliked the result each time. This was the one I liked the most, but I am not extremely happy with it. I hope you all like it better than me ^_^

Valentine's Day Tutorial: Kickass Pinks

Hiii dark siders ♥

It is almost that time of the year again. That day that a lot of people dread: Valentine's Day! It's time to get out your pink eyeshadows, blushes, and lipsticks! For those of you who like bolder looks for February 14th, here is a flirty, kickass pink and purple look you can rock! Personally, I will be going out to bars for the 14th, and this is something I would totally wear for that. It's fun and colorful, but still kind of sweet and girly.

Harry Potter Series: Bellatrix Lestrange

Greetings from the Dark Side!
I have for you a somewhat grungy look inspired by Bellatrix Lestrange herself. I love the way Helena Bonham Carter played Bellatrix's character, so this is a shout out to her marvelous acting! I don't look anything like Bellatrix, mind you, so this is just an inspired look. I opted for the more natural look as apposed to the smokier and darker look. And of course I had to wear my Bellatrix necklace!

Return of the Look: Hufflepuff (Harry Potter)

"You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true,
And unafraid of toil
"
—The Sorting Hat

So you want to be a student at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry?
Very well let's see what House we can put you in then!
Let's see, are you brave? No? Okay, well let's keep going then.
Are you extremely intelligent? No, okay let's cross that one of the list.
Are you perhaps very evil cunning? Not that one either, huh?
Ummm...well since you have no special traits you can be part of Hufflepuff, the House for the rejects loyal! Yep, I am sure you will be super happy there!

Just kidding anyone who is part of Hufflepuff (don't kill me)! Hehe, we always have to make fun of Hufflepuff just a little ;) I thought I would try to redeem this House by making a fierce black and yellow look. Hufflepuff seems so understated, but hey, we can show some Hufflepuff spirit and look damn good doing it! I hope you enjoy this look~

Naked 3 Tutorial: Sparkly Goth

Hi Guys!

Here is another tutorial using the Naked3 Palette! Except I decided to do something darker!
