September Hits and Misses

Hello!! Sorry for having this post be so late!
Better late than never!

HITS

1. L'oreal Project Runway 2012 'The Mystic's Blush'
This blush is a part of the limited edition Project Runway collection. It is a sheer, satin peach. It is in fact so sheer, that it only gives you the smallest hit of color. But that is why I love it. It is perfect for accenting your cheeks when you are doing very heavy eye makeup. There is almost no way of overdoing your blush with this product. Since I love smokey looks or very dramatic eyes, this has become my go-to blush (note: I will be giving one of these away soon!).

2. L'oreal Project Runway 2012 'The Muse's Gaze'
Along with the blush above, this quad has also become one of my go-to products. Right now, I go between being a student and being an intern in a high school classroom. I still like to wear color on my eyes though, and this quad makes it easy to create smokey looks that are still wearable. I love to pair the dark green with the gold or with the iridescent green to create subtle smokey eyes (note: I will be giving one of these away as well).

3. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Undereye Concealer in 'Neutralizer'
I am not a fan of undereye concealers, but this is a great concealer! Why, you ask? Well, first of all, it does not make the eye area look cakey! This color is also perfect for concealing the eye bags. And lastly, the reason why I especially love this, this is great to put right below your lash line to prevent your eyeliner from smudging and/or fall down from where it is supposed to be. So when I do really heavy looks, especially looks with a lot going on on my lower lash line, I love to blend some of this concealer right underneath the area where my eye makeup is and it will help to prevent smudging :)

4. Kat Von D 'Lock It' Foundation
I don't believe I have mentioned this product before, but it is one of my most recent purchases. This foundation is the epitome of high coverage foundations! It covers soooo well! But unlike other high coverage foundations, I don't find this to be cakey or super heavy. And it lasts ALL day. No touch ups needed for me! I find that this applies best with a Beauty Blender. If you want to try this, I advice going to Sephora and asking for a free sample.

5. YSL Rouge Volupte Perle Lipstick 'Spellbinding Violet'
A dark, and seductive purple that is perfect for fall! And the gorgeous packaging! I die! I am glad I can finally start to use this more now that fall is upon us. It is just a gorgeous color and being the purple lipstick lover that I am, I just can't get enough of this!

6. Lime Crime Lip Gloss 'Candy Apple'
I use this a lot in my makeup looks, and for a good reason. This is the most glamorous red lip color that I have. It is opaque and the red just POPS! The red glitter in the lip gloss makes it that much more special. It is just the ultimate red lip gloss!

MISSES

1. Revlon Whipped Foundation
I used this foundation a lot, but I suddenly find myself repulsed by this foundation. I love the coverage and the way it applies, but I noticed that recently this foundation has had a terrible alcohol smell. When I open the jar, it literally smells like I stored some vodka in there! It is freaking insane! I haven't had the foundation for that long either...I am very puzzled by this. I don't know what to do but throw this away :(

2. Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation
I am surprised at myself for putting this in my MISSES. I love Illamasqua, and I might be alone in saying that this foundation was not that great. It does have a pretty good lasting power, but I just don't like the way it looks on my skin. Maybe I am not applying this the right way. I'll keep using it, but for now, this is a miss. I will say that it has a nice lightweight feeling and that the color selection is really great!

That is all for this month.
I will be expanding more on the foundations/concealer mentioned in this post. I will be doing a foundation overview post :D So look forward to that~
Thank you for reading ♥
And have a fantastical weekend!

  1. I love the lime crime colors, have yet to haul these myself but one day I'll get them. What other Lime crime stuff have you tried, and do you like them as much as the candy apple lipgloss?

    1. I've tried most of their products actually. And for the most part, I absolutely love their products! If you click on the "Lime Crime" label tag, you can see all the posts that include the Lime Crime products. :D If I can recommend any of the products to you, it would definitely be the lipsticks, Candy Apple lipgloss, and the eyeshadow palettes.

  4. love these! Especially that you do hits AND misses, whereas a lot of people just do favorites (including myself haha). Still eyeing that Candy Apple... Also, have you tried UD's foundation?? I think you'd really like it

    1. Aw thanks! I've been trying to do the hits and misses rather than favorites since you get the good and the bad.
I actually have a sample of the UD foundation. I do like it actually! I like it much better than the Benefit Oxygen foundation which I also tried out.
