Have any of you purchased anything from the L'oreal Project Runway collection? I hauled quite a few things and one of those is the The Queen's Gaze eyeshadow quad. I can't remember how much the palette was since I bought all my items at BOGO 50% off and I also had a $10 off coupon.
Packaging
The palette comes in a sturdy, thin compact. It comes with a small rather useless sponge tip applicator.
Swatches
I am a little disappointed with the pigmentation of the eyeshadows to be honest. On the pan they look really amazing, but they are a bit lacking in smoothness. You know how there is eyeshadows that just glide on like butter? Well these do not have that smooth texture. They are a bit stiff and can be a little patchy if you are not careful. Oddly, when you apply them with a brush they work so much better than when you swatch them with your fingers. This is a good thing since I don't normally apply eyeshadows with my fingers anyways. If you don't know how to adapt to different eyeshadow textures then you might find it difficult to use these and will probably be disappointed with this palette. I would suggest to try the eyeshadow various different ways to see what method of application works best for you.
Product in Action
Although when I swatched the quad I wasn't so impressed, I quite loved how it turned out on my eyelids! What do you think? I am really impressed with how it turned out! If you want a tutorial for this look, please leave a comment!
Overall Thoughts
Although this is not the best eyeshadow quad, it is descent enough. I love the color combination and I think The Queen's Gaze will be a perfect quad for fall/winter. For the regular price (I think they are about $10) I would rather recommend Wet n Wild eyeshadows or Inglot because they have a smoother texture, but this quad is great for you who don't like super smooth eyeshadows. Or of course, if you are a makeup junkie like me and you just have to have some of these limited edition palettes!
Have you tried this quad or any of the other Project Runway quads?
The look you created is lovely, I like the hint of red!
ReplyDeleteNot bad! The colours are a little too common though, but it's descent as you said. Great review!
