Swatches and Comparison: Maybelline Spring 2014 Color Tattoos

Greetings from the Dark Side!

There are so many Color Tattoos in the Maybelline range now. So how do you know if you need a new shade? What if it is similar to a shade you already own? Well, I am going to try to help you guys out here by swatching the 6 new Spring 2014 Color Tattoos and comparing them to all the previous shades that look anywhere remotely close to these. Are you ready?! Keep reading for more~

EDIT: These are limited edition after all, as confirmed by Nouveau Cheap

                                                                  Comparison Swatches

Here you can see some comparison swatches between some of the new shades and some older shades. Colors like 'Stroke of Midnight' are unique because there are no other black Color Tattoos. So I obviously could not compare 'Stroke of Midnight' with any other Color Tattoos.

(Left to Right): Pure Nude / Barely Branded / Barely Beige / Beige-ing Beauty / Gold Rush

From the swatches above you can see that 'Pure Nude' is quite similar to 'Barely Branded' and 'Barely Beige'. They are not identical, but on the lid they will end up looking almost the same. If you have any of those two you probably don't need 'Pure Nude'. If you are a crazy makeup hoarder like me, then by all means go ahead and purchase 'Pure Nude'~
'Beige-ing Beauty' is similar in the base color to the other three, but it is more sparkly. It has fine peachy gold sparkles and has a similar finish to 'Gold Rush' (which is why I put a swatch of it here).

(Left to Right): Caramel Cool / Bad to the Bronze / Nude Compliment / Sleek&Spice / Rich Mahogany

And from these other swatches, you can see that there are no dupes! 'Bad to the Bronze' and 'Sleek & Spice' are similar, but definitely not identical. 'Bad to the Bronze' is a tad darker. 'Nude Compliment' is the lightest of the shades and is a much softer brown shade compared to the rest. 'Caramel Cool' is coppery and very different from the other browns. I also threw in 'Rich Mahogany' to show much that one is compared to 'Sleek & Spice'.

                                                                            Conclusion

I concluded that the only shade that is almost dupable is 'Pure Nude'.  Even then, it is not identical to the other Color Tattoos. 'Sleek & Spice' is not a dupe for 'Bad to the Bronze' either. So if you were worried about having multiple shades of Color Tattoos with different names, don't worry because there are no exact dupes!

  1. Thanks for these swatches! I think I can safely skip the lighter shades (Pure Nude and Beige-ing Beauty), and I totally would have bought both of those so this really helps. Sleek and Spice looks gorgeous!
