I Didn't Say I Was Powerful, I Said I Was A Wizard

Hello! It seems I have been procrastinating with this post, seeing as this was I look I did like last week.

Sometimes I can't sleep, and I am really bored. During those times I usually study or I create makeup looks. On this particular night, I was feeling bold and evil~ I was also listening to this song by Chiodos called "I Didn't Say I Was Powerful, I Said I Was A Wizard" at 3 a.m. and I think this was a good late-night, evil look Bwahahaha. This could be good for a Halloween look or costume party~

How to Achieve this Look
*This was so difficult to explain in words, so bare with me.

1.Apply a primer or base. (Pixie Epoxy)
2.Using an angled brush and a matte black shadow (Blue Had Me A Hello #4), make a line above the crease. Make it go from the outer corner of the eye all the way towards the inner corner, close to the nose. (Refer to the diagram picture below if you are confused). By doing this you will create a cut crease look, making the eye look much bigger than it actually is.
3. With a clean fluffy brush, blend the outer most perimeters of the black cut crease line. Blend, blend, blend~
4.With the same fluffy brush, apply a coppery purple from (Petal Pusher #6) above the cut crease and blend it into the black and also outwards towards the eyebrow. This will create a transition of color between the black and the purple.
5.With a flat shader brush, apply a bright purple with silver sparkles (Petal Pusher #4)  on the entire lid.
6.Apply a highlight color on the brow bone. I used a white with slight violet undertones (Petal Pusher #1).
7.With the angled brush and a the matte black, make two lines. The first line goes from the outer corner upwards towards the end of the eyebrow. The second line goes from the outer corner downwards towards the ear.Extend the lines as far as you like.These two lines should make a V shape.
8.Apply a silver shadow (Blue Had Me At Hello #2) and fill in the V area of the two lines that were made in step 7.
9.Taking the coppery purple (petal Pusher #6), apply in on the lower lash line.
10. Apply the same silver color (Blue Had Me At Hello #2) and apply it on the inner corner.
11.Apply mascara, lashes, and liquid liner.

Rescue Beauty Lounge 'Piu Mosso'

Hi lovelies~
Here is the second RBL polish from my most recent haul. ^_^

Piu Mosso ($18) is a dark navy polish with orange/copper and gold micro shimmer. The shimmer is almost unnoticeable in some lighting, and then in direct light it makes the polish look like outer space~ Full of sparkling stars *~*

 Price and Availability
$18 on the RBL website. This collection should be up sometime this month. I purchased mine during the pre-sale that is why I have mine earlier :D
Formula
Piu Mosso has a better formula than Poco A Poco. This is completely opaque in one coat! It is really amazing. Again though, I feel like this takes longer to try than most nail polishes. But besides the drying time, it is absolutely perfect! *NOTE: I wore this since Sunday night, and I went wild on my nails today. I cleaned and scrubbed floors like there was no tomorrow! I also only had one coat of Piu Mosso; no base coat or top coat, although I did use some cuticle oil before taking pictures. Notice that I did not get any chipping, only some tip wear.

Verdict
Besides the price and drying time, this polish is absolutely perfect. The color will be stunning for fall and winter, and it is such a great alternative to plain black or any other dark colored polish. What makes this so unique and awesome if 1) the shimmer and 2)the amazing formulation. I am so completely happy I purchased this color from the collection~~~♥

Recommend? You are crazy if you love dark polishes and don't get this @_@ So yes, I highly recommend it!
Repurchase? Unfortunately, this is limited edition T_T I hate buying back ups, but I do love this color a lot. What should I do???? I am experiencing a great dilemma!

Rescue Beauty Lounge 'Poco A Poco'

Piu Mosso (Left)   /  Poco A Poco (Right)

Poco A Poco is a mauve-pink  with incredible golden,pink, and purple shimmer. It is soft and feminine, but it still carries a punch of color and uniqueness. The shimmer is subtle in indoor lighting, but in sunlight or any direct light, it looks like the mauve-pink is inflamed in sunlight. The shimmer is absolutely gorgeous, Ji (the owner of RBL) really outdid her self.

Formula
Like all RBL polishes, this has an amazingly smooth formula. It goes opaque in 2 coats. One coat is not all that sheer though, and if you have have nice nails that are not stained, you can pull of one coat. I find that this takes a little bit longer to dry, but that can be fixed by applying a fast drying top coat.

*Excuse the mega crappy swatches and that little fiber that got stuck on the nail of my middle finger!

Verdict
I love everything about this polish! I love the color so much. I can't think of any dupes for this, but the closest thing to it would be Essie Demure Vixen. They are similar in that they both are mauve-pinks and have beautiful micro-shimmer. The only thing that bothers me is the drying time of the polish. I am very impatient with the time it takes for polish to dry, and this one takes longer that I would hope.Oh the the price is a factor too. At $18 a bottle, these are very expensive.

Recommend? If you are a RBL fan you definitely need this and I recommend it to you!
Repurchase? Well this is limited edition unfortunately, so I don't think I would be able to repurchase it. But I think I should be fine with one bottle of this :D

Haul: Rescue Beauty Lounge Firebird Collection

About a month ago or so, I made a pre-order on the RBL Firebird Collection. I am so glad I did too since I am currently doing a Project 10 Pan (I am actually finished my first 10 Pan already and I am doing a second one. I will do a post on this soon). I purchased two colors:

Piu Mosso  /  Poco A Poco

-Piu Mosso (A navy blue with beautiful orange shimmer)
-Poco A Poco (A mauve-pink wit gorgeous golden shimmer)

These retail $18 per bottle at Rescue Beauty Lounge. These are both part of the Limited Edition Firebird Collection which debuts sometime this September.

Now, look at the amazing shimmer in these!!!

Piu Mosso- See the amazing orange shimmer. It looks like the polish has an internal fire glowing on the inside!

Poco A Poco- This one also has an amazing complexity of shimmer~

I will try to have some swatches of these up by tonight. I hate that I got these two beauties at this moment. I had to cut my nails because two of my nails broke, and it was just the time to cut them. They are really short, so you will have to mind that when I swatch these T_T

I recommend you guys check out other swatches of these polishes as well. RBL polishes sell out really fast~

Kawanabe Kyosai

This is kind of a random post. I have studied a little bit of Japanese Literature and Art over the past two years and I have learned a lot of new things about Japanese culture and history. One of the things that really caught my eye was Japanese art that is related to literature (specially folklore literature). The artist that I have admired the most is Kawanabe Kyosai (1831-1889). Enjoy looking at some of his paintings~

Many of you won't know this but crows and ravens are actually my favorite animals. It is a little weird, but I have always been fascinated by them. So naturally, I was drawn by these paintings.

And going into a more creepy and eerie painting...

Creepy, right? This is a female ghost carrying the decapitated head of a man. Her facial expression just gives me the creeps! It is 5 am, and I am putting up pictures of ghosts? I am so normal...

Anyways, the point of this was to show you guys something that might be new :D I think it is really important to learn and see new things. I don't know, maybe one of you will be interested in one of these paintings and learn more about them. :D Or you can just waste a couple of minutes looking at some morbid paintings~

August Favorites 2011

The month of August has passed by so fast! And with its I have discovered new really awesome products!~


First up is some skincare stuff.

Left to Right: Reviva Labs Glycolic Acid Moisturizer, Neutrogena scrub, Reviva Labs Rosewater Facial Spray

1. Neutrogena Power Clear Scrub
I have been using this ever the entire month, and the tube above is actually my second tube. I love this scrub because it is so gentle and it is perfect for my combo skin. It does help with acne, but it does not work on under the skin bumps or cystic acne on me. But it helps to keep my skin clear of smaller breakouts and it cleans my pores. It is so gentle that I have been using this ever single night. Thanks to this and other products I have been using, I feel that my skin has improved slightly this month.

2.Reviva Labs Rosewater Facial Spray
I have been using this as my toner after cleansing. This has a nice rose smell, which is very soothing. It helps to removed any left over makeup and dirt on my skin as well as to lightly moisturize and hydrate my skin.
I think this is a perfect toner for people with oily skin because it moisturizes the skin without any oiliness. On the contrary, it leaves your skin supply and smooth, but also refreshed and free of any excess oils.

3.Reviva Labs Glycolic Acid Daytime Moisturizer
I have been using this every morning as my moisturizer. It doesn't contain SPF, so I have to use a separate sunblock. This moisturizer says it combats breakouts, and I think it has helped with my acne prone skin. But the reason I have been loving this is because I feel it has helped my acne scars. Ever since I started using it (which was about a couple of days into August), some of my older acne scars have looked lighter and less prominent.

4. Reviva Labs Makeup Primer
I have not used a makeup primer in ages because primers have never worked for my skin. I began using this primer, and oh my! I love it. It actually does help my foundation look better, and it does not break me out (primers have always broken me out). I have been using it every single day after my day moisturizer and just before applying my foundation.

5. Skin79 Oriental BB Cream
This is what I have been using on my face most of the month. I like this because it is very light on the skin,but it still offers decent coverage. If I didn't use this, I would just use a concealer and powder. But I would say I had this on my skin for most of the month.

 6. NYX Matte Cream 'Addis Ababa'
I love everything about this: the color, smell, texture, and look. It is just a great bright color for the end of summer. Once fall starts I will still wear this because I like it so much.
7.Jack Black Lip Balm
I gave into the hype of this products and I bought it last month. At first I didn't think it was all that great, but I don't think I will be able be without it any more. I stopped using my other lip balms and this is what I have been using all the time. Constant use of this has made my lips much softer and less prone to chapping. I mentioned before that my lips are super dry and I had to exfoliate them everyday in order to maintain smooth lips. But with using this, I now only have to exfoliate my lips once every other week. This has really helped a lot.

As far as eye products and cheek products go, I have been using so many different things!

The Lipstick Compendium: NYX 'Addis Ababa' Matte Cream

Super quickly, I want to show you a new lip obsession of mine. I bought this a while back but I never really used it, but I am now really obsessed with it! It is one of the NYX Matte Creams in the color Addis Ababa.

Addis Ababa is a creamy hot pink that is still wearable. It is not too overwhelming, but it is bright enough that is gives a nice pop of color to your lips.

PROS:
~The smell! It smells so good. Like vanilla cupcakes.
~This is smooth, and it glides on the lips really nicely.
~The color, although matte, does not look flat or dry.
~This lasts on my lips for up to 4-5 hrs and it fades gradually
~Affordable. I think this was about $4-5.

CONS:
~It can be streaky on the lips


*The color is going to look a little streaky, I didn't notice this until I was uploading the pictures. I don't have time to retake pictures, so bear with me on this one. But at least you can see in action how these can look streaky if you are not careful.

I was wearing this when I did my Little Twin Stars FOTD.

Overall
I really love this color because I can wear it without worrying about lip liners or lip glosses. I love the smell and how it feels on my lips. The only thing I have to worry about is streaks which is easily avoidable it you tap the color gently with your fingertips.

Rating: 9.5/10
Recommend? Yes~ I would suggest that everyone who has NYX available to them to try at least one of these.
Repurchase? If, or once I am done with this one, I will definitely repurchase it!
