Greetings from the Dark Side!
I am a one-mascara-at-a-time type of girl, and I have never been the type to have mulitple mascaras at the same time. Apparently this changed just recently because I have a lot of new mascaras, both opened and unopened. I am taking advantage of that to post some mascara reviews. I think mascaras are difficult for me to review because I tend to like most mascaras I use. Either I really like them or I really hate them. So instead of giving tons of opinions on the mascara, I will let the photos give you a sense of how good or bad this mascara is.

Today's mascara is Maybelline's Mega Plush Volume Express mascara.
Brush
The brush for this mascara is quite standard. It is a slightly oval shaped with long bristles in the middle and shorter bristles at the top and bottom. Compared to some other mascaras, the brush is not at stiff and has a gentle flexibility that allows for an easier and smoother mascara application. The brush is alright with me; I personally have liked mascaras with this older more standard brush because I feel it works the best for my lashes. That being said though, the brush will impact how the mascara itself is distributed on your lashes. If you think this style of brush does not work for you, then be aware of that before you decided whether of not you want to purchase a mascara.

Review & Verdict
The good: This mascara has a a good balance of volume and length and makes it ideal for everyday. It makes your lashes look polished and your eyes very open and awake. This mascara is easily available and not too expensive.
The bad: This mascara is advertised as a volume mascara, but it doesn't give my lashes that much volume. It gives a bit of both length and volume, although I think that it leans more towards length.
Final verdict: I really like this mascara and I am quite surprised. But, I don't think it is the best drugstore mascara. I like it for everyday and maybe for those occasions when I want my eyes to have a wide-eye look. However, if you are looking for a mascara that will give your lashes volume and a very dramatic look, this is not the one for you.
I have this mascara too and I really like it. But I agree, it's not the best mascara for a dramatic look.
ReplyDelete:) Agreed!
DeleteI have a hard time with mascara, I have super long lashes but they're skinny so I always need volume but I think most products choose their marketing at random because a lot of "volumizing" formulas lengthen.
ReplyDelete>_> seems a bit hard to navigate.
Ooh, really good mascara!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the good review!
came to me review my new review on ETUDE HOUSE Precious Mineral BB Cream Bright Fit

Thanks for the review! I had my eye on this (snort) but now I'll pass, I like my lashes to look dramatic.
ReplyDeleteYeah I think there is better mascaras for the bold dramatic lash look~
DeleteThis makes your lashes look really nice, though it's a bummer about the volume :( I have an unopened tube of it sitting in my drawer lol, should really give it a try x
ReplyDeleteMight as well since you already have it. But who knows, it might work better for you :D
Delete:D No problem!
ReplyDeleteI didn't like this mascara at all. It didn't do anything for me :(
ReplyDeleteAww really? That sucks! :(
Deletecurrently i'm using the Falsies Big Eyes. When it hit the shelves, I was beyond excited, since I'm a huge fan of the original Falsies and Falsies Flared. I have never seen Maybelline release a double-ended mascara before.
