Review: L'oreal Lash Out Butterfly Mascara

Greetings from the Dark Side :)
And Happy Holidays to you all!

The L'oreal Lash Out Butterfly mascara is not only a fairly new mascara, but it is also next on my list to review. I am on a quest to find the perfect mascara and so far I have gone through quite a few tubes with no luck. This silver-tubed mascara is unique because of its brush. On one side, it has longer bristles that start out long and get shorter at the tip of the brush. I'm sure there are a few other mascaras like this out there, but it is the first time I have ever tried one with this type of brush.

Before and after applying the Lash Out Butterfly mascara:

The slim "winged-out" brush of this mascara is going to be a "make it-or-break it" type of brush. What I mean is that either you will really like the brush or you will hate it. I personally like it. I think it helps to give an extra oomph to the outer corner lashes. If you use the brush just right, the brush will lift the lashes so that your eyes look wider and more awake.

So, yeah I do really like the brush, but I am not digging the formula of this mascara. It is a little clumpy and it can weigh my lashes down a bit. It is also more lengthening than volumizing and I always feel like my lashes lack definition when I wear this. I try to get mascaras that have a good balance of volume and length so I don't have to layer different mascaras to get the look I want.

So to summarize, brush yes, formula no.

This is not a horrible mascara; it can look quite nice on its own. But it is not the perfect mascara for me. It does not have both volume and length and it has a tendency to clump my lashes. I would recommend this mascara for when you use fake lashes (it blends real and fake lashes very nicely), but I would not recommend it for use on its own. I think there has to be a better mascara out there!

Well I'd be cautious of it. You can check out other reviews before you cross it off your list~
