Review: Jill Stuart Jelly Eye Color N #18 Bird Flutter

Jill Stuart~ How I love thee! The packaging, the colors, the sparkle! Alas, how unfortunate! The price can be too much to bare :(

But regardless, I am, excited because I finally picked up my first Jill Stuart Jelly Eye Color. I have been swooning over these for a LONG time, but I decided to take the plunge and get #18 Bird Flutter, which is a limited edition color for the Jill Stuart Spring 2012 collection called Bare Petal. I wish I could have purchased the blush and/or the eyeshadow palette from this collection, but it is too pricey for me right now so I decided to stick to this one item.

FOTD: Amazonite Dazzle

As shown in my Jill Stuart review of the eyeshadow palette #102, here is the look I made using that palette.
Sorry for my delay in posting this but I have been super busy! School has kept me busy, but I will be posting a few things tonight :D Also I had an awkward moment when I bumped into my ex yesterday. Apparently he works at the Game Stop I always go to. Way to ruin my day.

Anyways...onto the look!

Products Used
EYES

-ELF Eyelid Primer
-Jill Stuart 102 Amazonite Dazzle palette
-MUFE Aqua Eyes black liner
-Yanqina Volumizer mascara (I giving this a second chance, but I still get some mascara smudges!)

-Skin79 Oriental BB Cream
-Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer

How to Achieve this Look

3.Apply the shimmery white on the inner corner, blending it upwards towards the crease.
4.Apply the shimmery olive green on the lower lash line.
5.Line the water liner and apply mascara.

Review: Jill Stuart Jewel Crystal Eyes Palette in 102 Amazonite Dazzle

今晩は!(Konbanwa is the evening greeting :D)
Japanese is such a tough language, and I am currently starting my third year at my Uni, and I have been learning Japanese since my freshmen year. I love the language though, as well as the culture, literature, and food of course ^_^ Pronunciation is not that hard for me because I speak Spanish and the pronunciation is very similar, which the exception of "h", "r", and "j" sounds. Anyways, I digress. The point is the Jill Stuart is an extremely popular brand in Japan, and of course I just had to "research" it in order to know more of the Japanese culture (that is my cover up excuse anyways ^_~ I am really just a makeup addict). I purchased Jill Stuart's Jewel Crystal Eyes palette in #102 Amazonite Dazzle.

Photo from makeupandlife.com. I accidentally erased my picture of the unused eyeshadow >_<" And this is such a lovely picture~ :D

*This is a limited edition palette that was exclusive to only certain parts of Asia.I purchased it from YESSTYLE, but it is no longer available on the website. I am have no idea where else you might be able to purchase it.

Product Review
For the most part, all the Jill Stuart palettes are very shimmery and soft-colored, so I would suggest you stay away from these if you don't like shimmery eye shadows. This one in particular caught my eye because it contained darker colors  than the typical JS palette. I wanted to try at least one palette so I went for this one.
This does not contain any matte shades, but it does contain one shade that is not shimmery. Instead it has a satin-like finish. This is extremely rare for JS because Japanese eyeshadows tend to be very shimmery. I guess Japanese women like the bright eyed look, which then can achieve with shimmery shadows.
The shadows look gritty, but they are very soft. 102 Amazonite Dazzle is also very pigmented on its own, which honestly surprised me as I was expecting the colors to be very sheer.
The combination of the four colors is a little odd, but I love how they look together. The palette includes a iridescent lilac/white, a sparkling olive green,a darker blue/grey toned green, and a brown with red and green undertones. Yes very unique colors! The last two are my favorite colors in the quad because they are very unique.
Everything is topped off with the gorgeous, princess-like packaging. The four shadows come enclosed in the famous Jill Stuart compact, with a mirror and a sponge tip applicator. This LE palette is a little different because it has printed pictures on the cover of the compact.

Any negative aspects?
One obvious negative aspect about this, and really any Jill Stuart product, is both the cost and the availability. Jill Stuart is extremely expensive and very hard to find outside of Asia. The US has ONE counter in the entire country. Ridiculous. The palettes sell for about $50-$60. Yup, my wallet just cried.
I was lucky that I chose a palette I ended up really loving, especially since I had to buy it online and I really had no idea what the colors would be like. Imagine if I had payed that much for a something I did not absolutely love?? It would have sucked.
Another thing would be that you can get some shimmer fall out. Because the colors are very shimmery, there is a chance of getting some shimmers under the eye area.
Also, if you don't know how to work with these types of shadows, you won't be able to get a good color pay off. The best method is to apply the shadows with a flat shader brush, and then pat the color on the lid (instead of swiping it on).
One swipe of the colors
Even the white color is pretty! See that gorgeous lilac shimmer it has?

Swatches of the four colors. One swipe only without any kind of base or primer.

Verdict
I really enjoy the colors because I personally love shimmer and sparkle. These are also darker and unique colors, which is completely my style! I am glad I was able to get my hands on this particular palette. That being said though, I don't know if I will purchase another JS palette. They are very expensive and I have yet to see another palette that catches my attention. Instead, I would like to try the Jill Stuart Eye Jelly in #9 and #10. I think I will save my money so I can try those out :D

Rating: 8/10 (-1 point for the price, -.5 for the fall out, -.5 for difficulty in finding)
Recommend? If you love shimmer, these are worth checking out.
Repurchase: It was LE so I cannot repurchase.

*FOTD coming up soon ;) Here is a teaser!

Review: Jill Stuart Night Jewel Fragrance

Hello ^_^ I hope you are all having a lovely weekend~
Today, I want to review this perfume by Jill Stuart that was given to me as a gift.
*Just keep in mind that I am terrible at describing scents and also that my experince with perfumes is limited to the perfumes I have tried (Calvin Klein, Flowerbomb, Juicy Couture, and a couple others).
The box is so intricately designed~
The top of the box has this awesome design on it~
The cap of the perfume is so pretty!~

Here is what Jill Stuart says of this perfume:

Jill Stuart Night Jewel Eau de Toilette was created by perfumist Alexis Dadier. The scent was inspired by youth and by Parisian nights... a sweet and sexy magic captured in a fragrant, precious jewel. The perfume starts out with fresh notes of bergamot and neroli, features mid notes of rose, jasmine and vanilla, and ends with hints of musk and wood.

Like the day progressing into the night, it then reveals its more sensual middle and end notes of rose, lily of the valley, vanilla, night blooming jasmine, musk and wood. The key element in Night Jewel is night blooming jasmine, also known as spring jasmine which blooms only in May in Grasse, France, and is more sensual with a stronger vanilla tone.

Price and Availability
For a 50ml bottle this is about $80-$90 and it is available online or in Jill Stuart stores.
I found a website that sells it for $82 HERE

Fragrance Review
I can definitely smell the roses and the jasmine. Maybe I like both the scent of roses and jasmine so I am able to smell them the best. I can also smell the vanilla, but it is a heavier vanilla scent that I am used to.
I am very accustomed  to my everyday perfume, which is Juicy Couture's Viva La Juicy. Viva La Juicy is a very light and lively scent that is perfect for day time.
Night Jewel on the other hand is stronger, so one spray is more than enough and it will last all day and night long. I prefer this scent at night because it is heavier and more "seductive."

The closest thing I have to JS Night Jewel is my Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb perfume. The difference is that Night Jewel has more of a rose scent and the scent is not as heavy as the Flowerbomb. I find that Flowerbomb can be very overpowering, and Night Jewel is not as overpowering.

PROS
~The bottle is incredibly beautiful, and even the box it comes in is beautifully designed
~The scent is really nice for night time (in my opinion)
~Great rose-scented perfume
~One spray goes a long way, so the bottle will last you for a long time

CONS
~Expensive for the amount of perfume
~Difficult to obtain, specially in non-Asian countries
~It is a semi-heavy scent so you have to be careful not to spray too much or else it will be overpowering

Overall
This was a gift, so I don't have to worry about the price. If it wasn't a gift, I don't know if I would have purchased it. I like it a lot, but I really love my Viva La Juicy and I would rather get a bottle of that. But since it was a gift, I will thoroughly enjoy it and use it when I go out at night. Thank you Ayaka for the gift~ :D

Jill Stuart Gift + Haul

今日は!こんにちは!Konnichiwa~ Or however you would like to spell it :D (*Japanese midday greeting)

It only seems appropriate to greet you all in Japanese since the products I am about to show you come from Japan. If you have never heard of Jill Stuart cosmetics, then you are seriously missing out and one of the most beautiful and princess-like makeup in the world!

Jill Stuart cosmetics are extremely popular in Asia, and for some reason are not really available within the US. The only Jill Stuart boutique in the US in is New York, which is a real shame. I really think that Jill Stuart should open it's doors to more US cities! Because I can't get these products, I asked one of my previous Japanese tutors, and a good friend of mine, if she could send me a few Jill Stuart products. I was going to send her money so she could buy some products and send them to me, but she refused. She insisted she would buy me some things as a gift for the friendship I offered her while she was an exchange student here in the US. She told me to accept it, because she was going to send them either ways.

First thing she sent me was the one thing I really wanted, the Mix Compact Blush in 'Candy Orange'

I am soooo happy with this blush! The packing is incredibly cute, and this is a great color for a glowing, flushed cheek. Despite how crazy bright the colors are, this is actually very natural looking on the cheeks.

The second thing she sent me, and which honestly surprised me, was the Night Jewel Perfume.

This is a really expensive perfume, specially for the size. I am so speechless that she sent me this, and I am so grateful to  her. This smells like roses, and it is more of  night-time, seductive scent.

The third and final thing she sent me was the gorgeous Jill Stuart Hand Mirror.

This is the most beautiful hand mirror ever~ I love hand mirrors, and I am super happy with this one.

The next two items were purchased by me before I received this gift~

The first thing is one of the Jill Stuart Jewel Crystal Eyes in 102 Amazonite Dazzle.
I choose this quad because the colors seemed darker and more like something I would wear. I love these because they are actually very pigmented and super shimmery (I love shimmer!).

Lastly, I purchased a second Mix Compact Blush, this one is 'Little Boutique'.
I haven't used this yet, because I feel that it won't be very different from Candy Orange on my cheeks. I think I will do a giveaway for this ^_^

I will do separate reviews on each of these products and hopefully show you guys different websites where you can buy Jill Stuart online!

Jill Stuart Polish #909 'Sapphire'

During the span of my life I have owned so many glittery nail polishes, and usually they are sheer and disappointing. But My one and only Jill Stuart nail polish has shown me that glitter top coats can be beautiful. Don't get me wrong, I love glitter top coats, but they have to be extremely pretty or else they are not worth putting on.
Revlon 'Silver' and JS 'Sapphire'. Look at the difference in packaging.

Price and Availability:
This was a gift, but I think these range about $20 per bottle. Yes, very expensive here in the US. JS is a very expensive Asian brand, so these will not be cheap. I want to try more JS products, but I am rather poor at the moment :/
Product Review
Jill Stuart polishes come in the most beautiful bottle I have I ever seen. They look like nail polishes designed for a princess. Although the bottle does not have anything to do with the actual nail polish, it is nice to have a great polish AND a pretty bottle. The polish itself is a sheer blue base with a jelly consistency that has loads of slightly holographic glitter. In the sun, the glitter looks amazing! You could wear this alone, but I personally think It looks better on top of another polish. In this mani, I am wearing it over Revlon's 'Silver' polish which is a light gray with slight blue undertones.

Swacthes
I have one coat of 'Silver' and one coat of 'Sapphire.'
I really like this because it is a subtle holographic polish. It is really cute and you can pair it with any polish.

Thank you for reading!
