Review: Wet n Wild Fergie Take on the Day Mattifying Powder

The Wet n Wild Take on the Day Mattifying Powder is a white translucent setting powder with fine micro-shimmer. The compact is quite large and has a compartment on the bottom that has a powder puff.

Packaging:	This mattifying powder comes in a medium-sized black compact that comes with its own powder puff.
Color:	Translucent powder that has no color pay off and has small micro-shimmer.
Texture/Finish/Smell:	This has a very soft silicone-texture. The powder is very fine when you touch it. It has no noticeable smell.
Pigmentation:	This is completely translucent so there is no "pigmentation" factor.
Application:	I have applied this with both a large powder brush and the powder puff.
Wear (comfort):	This feels very smooth and soft on the skin.
Wear (time):	This helps to mattify the skin, but it is not very long lasting. I feel like I would need to reapply in about 3-5 hours depending on the foundation I'm wearing.
Dupes? Similar products?:	NARS Light Reflecting Pressed Powder? (I haven't tried this myself but they look and feel very similar)

The Good:

If this product works well for you, then price will not be an issue. This compact costs $4-5 so it will always be affordable to repurchase and you will not feel guilty about spending up to $45 for a powder. It is also handy that is comes with a powder puff because you can then use the powder puff to reapply the powder on the go.

The product itself is quite nice. The micro-shimmer help to give the skin a slight glow without making it look too shiny. The powder helps to reduce shine but it does not give a completely matte look. This stuff is also amazing for setting under-eye concealer and it helps to reduce the appearance of pores and wrinkles slightly.

The Bad:

The compact is quite large and bulky compared to other compacts, but for the $4-5 price range, I really can't complain too much. And although I do like the powder if I over apply it even just a little, it will make my skin look really dry and patchy. Because of this I prefer to apply the powder with a large brush that will evenly distribute a very thin layer all over the skin. Lastly, the powder is not very long-lasting. With more hydrating foundations, I have to powder my T-zone with this at least every 3 hours. If you have very oily skin, this will probably not be the best mattifying powder.

Overall, I don't think this is the best mattifying powder. I think it works more like a not-as-good version of the Hourglass Ambient powder or the NARS Light Reflecting Pressed Powder. It removes a bit of shine but it does a better job at giving the skin a subtle glow and it sort of diffuses the look of pores and wrinkles. Notice in the photos of my wearing this above, the biggest difference is in the area underneath my eyes; this powder helps to make the small wrinkles under my eyes look less pronounced. It also sets under-eye concealer amazingly! However, one major "con" for this product is that it does not last very long on the skin. You will have to reapply every 3-5 hours. It lasts longer underneath my eyes which is why I think this will become more of a under-eye concealer setting powder for me rather than an all-over face powder.
