Review: TATCHA Dewy Skin Mist

Greetings from the Dark Side!

Today I have a ridiculously overdue skin care review. I received this TATCHA product months ago, but I am barely about to finish it. I wanted to wait until I was almost done with this product to review it so I was absolutely sure about my thoughts on it. So if you are interested in a review, keep on reading ^_^

I've used other TATCHA skin care products in the past, and I honestly think that they are amazing. The main reason why I really like TATCHA is that none of their products have irritated my skin or caused any breakouts. Most products I try break me out like crazy, so it was a miracle to find a brand of skin care that did not break me out. And yes, the products are expensive, I can't deny that. But you definitely get what you pay for. And really, the only drawback to this is the price.

The Dewy Skin Mist is one of the more affordable products in the line. It is $48 for a 40oz bottle. If you use it sparingly, it will last you a long time; I've been using my bottle for the last five months or so. The Dewy Skin Mist is basically a moisturizing mist that you can use over foundation, over bare skin, or over other skin care products. It comes in a really pretty blue bottle that is transparent at the bottom. I like that the bottom is see-through because you can see how much product you have left.

                                                             How I Use This Spray

This is NOT a setting spray, so do not expect it to make your foundation last for days. You can definitely use it over your foundation to freshen up your face and to avoid having the powdery-face look though. I personally like to use it in a different way. If my skin is feeling particularly dry that day and I want to make sure I wake up with really radiant skin, I use this after my night-time skin care routine before bed. This seals in moisture and makes my skin look super luminous. When I wake up in the morning, I definitely see the difference. My foundations looks better and I feel better about my skin.

When I apply this, I put my hair back and spray it all over my face, about 2-3 sprays in total.  You can see a picture of silly old me about to spray this on my bare skin. Yikes! Yes guys, my skin is not perfect! But it has come a long way in the past year and half.

You can see close up the effect that this has on the skin. Here is my bare skin of my hand without any product:

And then afterwards, with one spray of this on the skin. See how it looks more luminous? And it does not look wet, the mist is really fine.

                                                                          Verdict

After using up pretty much the entire bottle, I think this is a nice addition to my skin care routine. I don't, however, think it is a must-have. In the list of priorities in my skin care routine, this is not at the very top. It is not because it does not do a wonderful job, because believe it does, but rather because it is an "extra" that I could live without. Before I think about this wonderful spray, I have to consider that I must have my cleanser, moisturizer, and acne-fighter first. After that, I would consider what extra products I can budget. If you love high end skin care and don't mind paying a higher price, I really, really suggest looking into TATCHA. If you have the extra money for it, it is something really worth investing in because I've noticed a huge improvement in my skin while using TATCHA products (especially with the Brightening Serum and this Dewy Skin Mist). If I have extra money to spare, I will definitely go back to TATCHA and buy my favorite products. For me at the moment, however, it can't be an regular occurrence but rather an occasional luxury. This actually works out for me though because my skin tends to get to used to skin care products if I use the same product over and over again. xD

Would I purchase this with my own money? Yes, if my budget allowed it.

  1. Hi Nancy! Wonderful review, thanks for waiting to do a review instead of just first impressions! I think long term effects are especially important w/ skincare.
I was just wondering what is your top 'acne fighter'? Is it still the PC bha 9? How does it compare to the bha 2%?

    1. Thanks for your comment! I agree with you! It is important to use a skin care product for a while before you really know whether it works or it doesn't.
As of right now, I still use both the PC Resist BHA 9 and the BHA 2% Perfecting Liquid. I think for daily use, however, the BHA 2% is better. This is a liquid, almost like a toner that you would use as a chemical exfoliator. I think that this not only helps to get rid of existing acne but it prevents acne from forming by unclogging pores and removing excess oil. The BHA 9 is better for spot treatments, and personally I find that it works better on stubborn under the skin acne. I thin on which one would be best for you depends on your skin type and on what type of acne you have. If you aren't sure you can order samples of both and try both out :)

    2. I see, thanks!! I'm glad you liked them enough to still be using them. I ordered samples of both :) I can't wait to try some Tatcha samples after this.
