Greetings from the Dark Side :)
I hope you have all been well.
I noticed that my stash of foundations has been growing in the past year, and I really dislike having so many foundations. I don't want them to go bad before I get a chance to use them and develop a solid opinion about them. I made it my mission to use these foundations and recall how I felt about them so I can give you a mini review of each product :D I hope this is helpful!
*FYI I have combination skin that is oily around my nose and forehead and super dry along my jaw and chin. I have acne-prone skin that also has a tendency to flake.
1. Pond's Luminous Finish BB+ Cream
This is one of the most recent additions to my makeup collection and I posted a First Impression post on it. I have used this a lot and I do really like it. It smells wonderful, it blends really easy, it makes my skin look youthful and bright. What I really like about this is that it is semi-matte but it still makes my skin look like it is glowing. I am a little cautious with this though because I think it might have broken me out. It is hard to say whether it was this or not, but I do like to keep an eye out. If I notice that this is in fact breaking me out, I will stop using it. I am still on the fence, so for now I would not repurchase it.
2. L'oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder
I talked about this in a previous post already, and basically I don't like this. I like the consistency and the finish of the foundation, but this is actually drying on my skin. It makes my skin flake and it looks terrible on the dry areas. I'm guessing this would probably be better for you who have oily skin. I would not repurchase this.
3. Hard Candy CC Cream
This is quite similar to the L'oreal Magic Nude, but it is not as drying. The one major problem I have with this line though is that the color selection is extremely limited. Not only that, but the colors tend to have an orange undertone. I have the lightest shade and it is actually just a tad darker than my skin tone. I have to mix it with a slighter lighter foundation (usually the YSL Teint Resist) to make the perfect color. Even so, I do really like this. It blends really well, feels super smooth, and makes my skin look awesome. It only has a medium coverage but it looks really natural; it doesn't look cakey or overdone at all. I do have to use a bit of powder since it has a tendency to slip around the skin. I would repurchase this.
4. Lioele Super Gold BB Cream
This is my favorite BB Cream! I have used this for a year and I'm on my second bottle. I used this really often because it looks fantastic. It has a really high coverage, has a slightly dewy finish, and it does not have that ashy tone that many BB Creams have. This claims to have healing properties because of the snail slime in the product, and I have to say it does. I feel like this helps to heal any blemishes I have; it is faster than if I used another foundation. I would purchase this again.
5. Kat Von D Lock It Foundation
I love this stuff! This is high coverage and is perfect to cover up acne scars/pigmentation on the skin. This foundation will last you a long time because you only need a small amount for your entire face. This is definitely my favorite high coverage foundation at the moment. I would repurchase this.
6. YSL Teint Resist
This is unfortunately discontinued, but I managed to get a backup. I really like this foundation because it has a medium coverage and it is semi-matte. Unlike some other matte foundations, this does not make my skin look dry or flaky. This would be my HG foundation if my skin didn't break out so much. Because I do have to cover up acne scars and blemishes, I need more coverage than this offers. So, I leave this for the days when my skin looks better than usual. I would repurchase, but I can't because it is discontinued.
7. Illamasqua Skin Base
I don't have a lot to say about this foundation because I do not like it. It does not look good on my skin at all! It makes my skin look dry and dull. It also tends to looks streaky on me. I would not repurchase.
8. Hourglass Immaculate
Ladies with oily skin, this is an awesome foundation to try. This is a very long-lasting foundation and it is matte so it will help to keep the oil at bay. This will keep me matte all day without having to use powder. This has a medium coverage, almost high coverage but not quite there.
The only problem for me is that is tends to emphasize the dry areas of my skin. On the days where my skin isn't so dry, this is the foundation I will gravitate towards. I would repurchase.
9. MAC Pro Longwear Concealer
This is a great concealer. It has really awesome coverage and it lasts all day.
I wouldn't say this is an HG concealer for me though. I feel like I need something with slightly more coverage than this. Although I really can't complaint too much about the Pro Longwear because although it is not as pigmented as I wish it was, it does not cake up. I love that it look more natural than most concealers. I would repurchase this, but I will probably look into some other concealers first.
10. Maybelline Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser 'Neutralizer'
This is definitely my HG undereye concealer. I freaking love this stuff! I have a full review that you can check out HERE. I would definitely repurchase this, without a doubt.
11. Artistry Powder Foundation
I have a hard time looking for powders because they either make my skin look really dry or they break me out horribly. This is one of the only powders that doesn't do either of those things. It has a creamier/softer texture and so it looks great on my dry skin. This has been my favorite powder for a while now and I haven't found anything to replace it. It is a foundation, so I suppose you could use it on its own, but I like to use this as a finishing powder over a liquid foundation. I would repurchase this unless I found a better powder.
12. Maybelline Dream Matte Powder
I wanted to like this so very much. It does make my skin matte, but I feel like I have to powder over and over again. Basically, the powder does not keep my skin looking matte for very long. I prefer to use my Artistry powder to keep my face matte. I would not repurchase this.
Thanks for sharing your review :)
