These new Revlon lip products are essentially a matte creamy lip color in a twist-up jumbo lip pencil form. They have the same packaging as their Just Kissable Balm Stains and even have the same minty smell. The differences can be seen from the packaging as well, since instead of having a glossy plastic-looking tube, the packaging has a flat/matte finish. This range is also not from the "Just Kissable" range, but rather from the "ColorBurst" range. I'm not entirely sure why this is the case, but just go with it ^_^ These retail for about $5-7.
I purchased two shades: Sultry and Standout. They were the only two matte shades available in the display so I picked those two up. The matte range has a good selection of colors, but good luck trying to find a display with ALL of the new shades. People are going nuts over these!
At this point, no one really knows if there are limited edition or not. But with all the hype, I am definitely treating these as LEs and I will keep looking for more displays.
I am already a huge fan of Revlon lip products. They are some of the best drugstore lip products, IMO. I own two of the Balm Stains, and I am so happy to see that these have similar packaging and smell. The packaging is convenient to me since you can use the point of the jumbo lip pencil to apply the lippie more precisely. It won't substitute a lip pencil, but it is definitely more precise than a traditional lipstick. The other thing I love is the minty smell. I loved that about the Balm Stains, and I am happy they kept that smell. It is not everyday you have a richly pigmented matte lip product with a minty smell!
So I guess the cat's out of the bag: these are indeed richly pigmented. Exactly what you would expect from a matte lip color. But everything that is undesired from a matte lip product - you know, the dry desert lips - is not a part of this tube of magic. The texture is as smooth as butter and as soft as velvet! For me, the formula is absolutely perfect. I don't think these are extremely matte, as they still have a slight glossiness so maybe that's why the formula is so great!
Wear time is not the best, but better than a traditional lipstick. I get about 4-5 hours of wear with drinking and eating. Because these are so creamy, they will transfer a bit so just be careful if you are wearing one of the brighter shades.
For $6, you get a beautiful, pigmented, perfectly textured lip product. These are definitely worth the money if you can find a shade you like. They are easier to wear than most lipsticks, wear a bit longer, and won't dry your lips (or at least they didn't dry out my lips and I have insanely dry lips!). I can't speak in behalf of all the shades in the display, but for these two I can say that they are certainly worth the hype (although I'm not sure I can say the same for their Lacquer counterparts)! And the only kind of complaint I have is that I thought that these would wear longer since they are kind of matte.
They look very nice... Have not seen them yet...!

Yeah they are great! I have super dry lips and they didn't make my dry lips worse!
DeleteDo you know how they compare to the L'Oreal Lamattes and Lalacs (spellingg?) respectively
ReplyDeleteI can't say too much about that because I have two of the Lalacques but I don't have any of the LaMattes. From my very brief experiences of the Revlon Lacques, I think that the L'oreal ones are better (although they also had a very small color selection). The Revlon Lacques are nice, but they have some glitter in them and they are not as pigmented as the L'oreal ones.
DeleteI've heard people say that the Mattes are very similar though. I much prefer the smell of the Revlon ones, since the L'oreal scent is gross to me.
Based on my extensive Youtube review research, it seems people are preferring the Revlon matte formula to the L'Oreal one, but the L'Oreal lacquers are far better. Finding out that the lacques are going to have glitter (and its the more gritty kind) was so saddifying.
DeleteSmell is a huge factor, good to know :) I shall now patiently await my stores stocking them
I love the Sultry one! <3
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I'm kinda eyeing on Just Bitten Kissable series since it has pretty packaging like those coloring markers :D AND I CANT BELIEVE THEY ALREADY RELEASED A MATTE ONES! :DDD
