First Impression: Wet n Wild Fergie Jet-Set Palette

Greetings from the Dark Side!

I'm sure I'm not the only one who used to buy the huge makeup palettes back in the late 90's that had eyeshadows, lipsticks, blushes, and sometimes other crazy stuff. I used to have a bunch of them back when I first started wearing makeup. They seemed like an easy option since I didn't have much makeup, and these had a bunch of products for a low price. Most of the palettes I used were absolutely horrible; the eyeshadows were chalky and lacked pigmentation! They were truly bad products, so I decided to never buy one again.

When I first heard that Wet n Wild was releasing a palette like that for their Fergie line, I was conflicted. On the one hand, I was excited because I love Wet n Wild and I am always curious to see what they release next. On the other hand, I was not sure how I would feel about this type of all-in-one palette. I have very low expectations with palettes like these, so let's see how Wet n Wild did with their Fergie Jet-Set palette!

The Jet-Set palette has 132 shades: 72 eyeshadows, 48 lip colors, 6 blushes, 3 pencils, and 3 face powders. You can see the layout of the palette on the box below.

                                                                            Packaging

The palette comes in a black plastic box with string handles; it kind of looks like a small shopping bag. You pull the strings to the opposite sides and it opens up like a book.

Here is what you get when you open it up. The first thing you will see are the 72 eyeshadows. There is a nice range of shades.

To see the other things, you have to slide the eyeshadow part to the side. For the left side of the eyeshadows, you have to slide the eyeshadow layer more to the left. This will reveal some of the lip colors, the blushes, and the eye/lip pencils.

On right side of the palette, you slide the eyeshadow layer more to the right. This will reveal more lip colors and a closed compartment.

When you pull the lid of the closed compartment, you get a mirror, 3 face powders, and some small brushes.

                                                                          Closer Look
Here is a closer look at all that this palette contains, and a few random swatches. All swatches were done on bare skin.
Eyeshadows
There are 72 eyeshadows. I do think that there is a great range of colors, however I see some colors that look really similar. I don't know if there are the repeat colors or if they were meant to be slightly very similar. Either way, you get 72 little pans of eyeshadows!

Lip Colors
Like with the eyeshadows, you also get a good range of lip colors. However, I again see some colors that repeat. So yes, you do get 48 lip colors but there are repeats of the same shade.

 Blushes
There are 6 blushes. I really like that they go from a very light pink, to coral toned, to a dark plum blush. There is at least one shade for everyone.

Liners
The palette has two eye pencils (black and brown) and one lip pencil (red).

Face Powders
There are three face powders: two higlighting shades and one bronzer. The highlighters are very light and almost matte, while the bronzer has some fine shimmer.

                                                                     First Impression
I had super low expectations from this palette, but I am actually impressed with it. The eyeshadows are quite pigmented and the colors are nice! The lip colors are glossy and some are quite pigmented (although there are some sheer ones as well). The blushes are a tad powdery, but the color payoff is great and the shades are quite diverse. The bronzer is too orange for me and too shimmery, but the highlighters are fantastic because they have a semi-matte finish. I haven't tried the liners so I can't say anything about those, but it is great to have a lip liner and two eyeliners in this kit. It seems like all you need is a foundation and mascara and you are good to go!

In all seriousness though, I do like that this palette is very compact. It is quite small for all the stuff it has inside and it would be great to travel with. Because the quality of the products is decent (pretty good compared to most palettes like this), it would be a great buy for someone who didn't really have much makeup and had no idea where to start. My favorite part of the palette so far is definitely the eyeshadows. They are not as good as most Wet n Wild eyeshadows, but they are very close. I'm still not sold on the lip colors and the blushes, but I need to actually use them in a look before I judge them too much. I will keep using this and have some EOTD/FOTDs for you all. This is Limited Edition, though, so if you are interested in it, grab it before it's gone!

P.S. This would make a great Holiday gift!

  1. That actually doesn't look so bad! I, too, used to buy those chunky makeup sets and now I wonder what I was thinking, haha.

  2. This doesn't look bad at all! I also got a couple of those gigantic all-in-one kits when I was a youngster, and I have to say, this one looks loads better. The eyeshadows actually have pigment, for one thing. :P

  5. Those eyeshadows are beautiful! But the problem is that I always tend to hate a lot those lipstick palettes because they are usually really sheer (and I can't stand that on a lipstick) but it is actually a good palette for people starting in make-up. Thanks for the review!

  16. Great post! I've been wondering about this palette. Like you, I'm often suspicious of the quality of huge palettes like these. I may have to pick it up!
