Products I Regret Buying #3

Like most beauty bloggers, I have tons and tons of makeup, a lot of which goes mostly unused. Personally, I tend to set aside products that I have not liked too much. This ends up being bad because I don't use these products enough to review them. I used some of those products a bit more and I came to the realization that I did not like them at all and that I regret buying them. So here are my most recent makeup regrets! And of course, just because these products did not work for me, that doesn't mean they won't work for you.

1. MAC Riri Hearts MAC 'Talk That Talk' Lipstick and Lip Liner
I don't have an image for this because I ended up returning both of these products. But I'm sure most of you guys know what I'm talking about since the Riri Hearts MAC collection has created a huge buzz in the makeup community. I purchased both the lipstick and the lip liner because I LOVED the color so much. I already own 'Riri Woo' which also has the Retro Matte formula that 'Talk That Talk' has, so I thought the formula would be just fine. However, the formula is not at all like 'Riri Woo'. It is so much drier and it applies so patchy. The lip liner is also super freaking dry, it's unbelievable. I am so sad because the color is so phenomenal. But I definitely regret buying both products. In the end, I knew I had to return them since both products came to a total of $42! So expensive!

2. L'oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder
I bought this product as soon as it was released and I actually quite liked it at first. In fact, I had a very positive first impression of this product. I should mention that I have combination skin that is quite dehydrated. My skin can be very dry and flaky around my cheeks and jawline. This foundation not only accentuates the dryness, but it actually makes the dryness worse. I noticed that my skin gets drier after wearing this extensively. Because of that reason, I don't wear this anymore and it has been gathering dust in my makeup drawer.

3. Hard Candy 'Doll Face' Glow All the Way
I love Hard Candy products, so I thought I would love this pink highlighter. But, this stuff is too glittery and too pink for me. I find that it is even too glittery and pink as a body lotion. You get a good amount of product for the price, but I just have not found a good way to incorporate this into my makeup routine. As it is now, it is just taking up space next to my other highlighters.

4. Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray
I know so many people love this stuff, which is why I wanted to give it a try. But I think this is really overrated. It does not give my hair texture, it just creates a crunchy mess. I feel like it really dries out my hair, even if I only use 1-2 sprays. I wanted to like this, but I just have not had any luck with it.

5. Flower Cosmetics Stick Foundation
If you have seen any of my other Flower Cosmetics reviews, you probably know that I am not a huge fan of this line. Like with the L'oreal foundation, I had a good first impression of this product. However, I also noticed that I wasn't really using this foundation, so there had to be a problem with it. It is probably because although this has a sheer coverage, I actually find it to be quite thick on my skin. This also enhances dry patches, just like the L'oreal foundation. It's not a terrible foundation, but it's just not the best for my skin.

6. L'oreal Colour Riche Stain Gloss  'Berry Persistent'
Before I get to this particular shade, I want to mention that I actually love this line of lip products. I have three other shades that I use all the time! But this color...well I guess it was just sucky. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful color. The problem lies with the formula. For some reason, it applies a bit patchy and it enhances lip lines and dry patches. The result is a goopy, sticky mess (albeit a pretty colored mess)! I might have thought it was just my product, but I've heard the same thing from a few other beauty gurus. Since I don't use it, it is just sitting pretty next to all my other lippies. I regret purchasing this shade because I could have had another shade with a better formula.

What are your makeup purchase regrets?

    1. If you have chance to try it out in store, that would be great. But most of the reviews I saw were very similar to mine, so probably best to avoid it!

  3. I feel the same way about that Surf Spray...I hate to let it go to waste, but I can't use it without looking like I lost a fight with a vat of Aquanet.

I also have a Hard Candy regret - the 24 hour shadow crayon or whatever? Soooo hard and dry, I couldnt even use it on my arm, let alone my eye area!

  4. cute nails! it's too bad about the mac lipstick + pencil... that was probably the only thing i'd want to buy from that collection, but hearing about formula problems from everyone makes me want to spend money on something else. i think the thing i regret lately is that revlon lash potion mascara =/ i've barely used it but i'm already thinking of tossing it.. =/ boo

  5. I actually really been loving the L'oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder but I don't have dry skin so perhaps that's why it worked out for me.

    1. Yeah I think it is mostly because I have dry skin. I liked it a lot in the beginning though.

  6. I really like this type of article! Definitely helpful. I do like the Stain Glosses, but it's good to know that color isn't as good as the others.

  7. Yea i agree with the lip gloss stain, its too much of a goopy mess for me. But I do have the liquid version of the Flower foundation and I love it for my combination skin on top of my handy dandy primer. Its probably because the formulation is the opposite from the stick version.

    1. Oh that is good to hear. I haven't tried the liquid version so at least there's hope there.

  11. I bought that Hard Candy "luminizer" too,and basically regretted it immediately.I got suckered in by how sparkly and pink it was,and by the time I'd got to the car with my bags I was like,"Wtf am I actually gonna do with this??".It was an especially goofy purchase considering I don't even use highlighters at all,b-but it was so prettyyy..~
