2013 Favorites: Misc Eye Products

Greetings from the Dark Side!

Now that I finished picking out my favorite eyeshadows for 2013, I also want to mention a few random eye products that are not eyeshadows. These are some of my most used and most loved products, so keep reading for more :D

1. Real Techniques Brushes
I can't believe it took me so long to try out these brushes. They are fan-freaking-tastic! They are reasonably priced and work better than most brushes I have tried. I am particularly in love with the Deluxe Crease brush which I use to apply my under eye concealer.  If you haven't tried them out yet...do it! Dooooo it.

2. Lime Crime Eyeshadow Helper
Ah, Eyeshadow Helper, my ever faithful eye primer. I think I have had this same tube all year now, and there is still so much product left! Honestly this has been my favorite primer since the first time I tried it. It makes eyeshadows more pigmented, stops them from creasing, keeps them in place, and prevents fall out. It is a bit pricey at $20 a tube. But like I said, I have had this all year and I use it all the time. My next choice for primer would be the Wet n Wild Take on the Day Primer which is like $5. It doesn't work as well as the Lime Crime one (though it still works very well as a primer), but it is so much cheaper.

3. Wet n Wild Ultimate Brow Kit
I already have very dark and thick brows, but even then they sometimes need a little help. I have never been keen on filling in my brows mostly because I don't want to spend the money on brow products. Wet n Wild products are super cheap though, so I don't have to break my wallet on account of my eyebrows. I love this kit because it has two powders, wax, mini tweezers, and a small brush; I have everything I need to do my brows. This is pretty much the only product I used on my brows this past year!

4. Maybelline 'Just Beige' Color Tattoo
I talked about my favorite primer, but now I want to discuss my favorite base. What's the difference between my primer and this base? Well I use my primer for everyday looks, but when I want to create a very dramatic look I also use this Color Tattoo as a color correcting base. The beige color conceals any redness on my lids and gives the most perfect canvas for a dramatic eye look. It does not crease even though it is a cream. Sometimes I will use this on its own and sometimes I will use this and the Lime Crime Eyeshadow Primer.  Using both a primer and a base is like the ultimate canvas for eyeshadows.

5. Revlon Lash Potion Mascara
2013 has been a year of experimenting with mascaras. I tried a few new mascaras and reviewed them. I was left feeling mixed about all the mascaras I used: I didn't hate any of them but I also didn't love any of them. Revlon's Lash Potion mascara takes the spot as my favorite mascara only because it was the least awful of the one's I tried. It was inexpensive and it worked alright. The only mascara I tried that worked better than the Lash Potion was the YSL Faux Cils.  I am not counting that one, however, because I am definitely not spending $30 on a mascara. The one I had was a gift and $30 for mascaras just seems ridiculous to me. If you don't mind spending that much for mascara, then YSL Faux Cils might be something to try out!

6. Rimmel ScandalEyes Eyeliners
I find that good eyeliners are tricky to find. You want them to be long-lasting, smudge-proof, pigmented, and inexpensive. I have yet to find an eyeliner that is perfect but the Rimmel ScandalEyes pencil eyeliners are very close. They are super cheap compared to high end eyeliners. As much as I love Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliners, it is so great to find good quality eyeliners at a fraction of the cost. These eyeliners are super pigmented, come if various colors, are long-lasting, and they have  minimal smudging. My favorite one is the color 'Nude', which is a nude shade (derp) that looks awesome on the waterline.

  1. Those Rimmel eyeliners are great! I should really try that Wet 'n' Wild brow kit; it seems like a nice affordable option for those of us that don't need too much help in that area.

    1. Yeah, I prefer to spend less money on products like that. I am sure that the Anastasia brow products are amazing but my brows don't need THAT much help xD

  2. I just bought the lime crime shadow helper and I love RT brushes I have that set too.
I like how with shadow helper you don't have to use a lot, a little goes a long way. :)

    1. Oh yes, you only need a really small amount of product. Guess that is why it has lasted me so long!

  3. The sheer envy I have over that Maybelline Colour Tattoo is immense. I wish they'd released it over here. I may pick up some RT brushes at some point

    1. I hope you guys get it too. Here in the States it was really hard to find. I only found one display of it and only managed to get it because I called the store constantly to see when they had the display in stores. They should seriously make it a permanent color.

    1. Aww really? That's too bad. Did you not like how it looked or was it the formula?
