The Rimmel Stay Matte Mousse Foundation is basically what its name suggests: it is a thick, lightweight mousse that is supposed to keep you matte all day. It comes in a tube, which you squeeze to get product out. You actually don't need that much foundation for your entire face! A small amount is more than enough.
My main concern with my skin is acne and acne scars. I also have dry-combo skin so I need a foundation to have good coverage, and to not be too dry. Here is a before and after, I am not wearing any type of primer underneath:
I've only used this foundation a few times but I already have quite a few things to say about it. First of all, this was a rather inexpensive foundation (I think I payed about $3.99 for this); it is a very budget-friendly foundation. The packaging is cute, compact, and for the most part sanitary. The actual foundation is very pigmented and you do not need a whole lot of foundation for your entire face. So, this 1 fl. oz. tube should last a pretty long time. The mousse is super lightweight even though the foundation is a full coverage; I really do not feel the foundation on my skin at all! It is quite a flawless foundation, it covered my acne scars, blemishes, and dark circles. And it is in fact quite mattifying and it keep my T-zone matte almost all day (I did see some oiliness on my nose but it was very minimal).
Even though there are a lot of great things about this foundation, I also noted some cons. I have combination skin and this did not do very well over the drier areas of my face. It clung to dry patches and look very cakey on those areas. A primer might prevent this (I haven't tried this yet, but I will), but on its own it is not good on dry skin. It also sunk into pores and made them even more visible (again, a primer might prevent this so I will try that out). Lastly, the shade Ivory is not the best match for my skin. It is waaay too beige, and I think I need something more yellow to match my skin tone better. I will have to go and check out more shades of this foundation so I can properly review it later on.
Has anyone else tried this foundation out yet?
wow it looks good, where do you buy it?
ReplyDeleteI have seen it at Rite Aid and Ulta, but I think it should be at most stores where you can find Rimmel.
Deleteo0o0o cant wait for a full review, this one sounds like it has promise!

:D I will keep trying it out so I can have a full review soon~
DeleteI haven't tried it yet, but I'd really like to as I've heard so much praise! I have oily skin, so it's a challenge to find a foundation that doesn't let the oils through in a couple of hours. (At the moment my favourite is The Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimiser as a primer and Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream).
ReplyDeleteOh yes this seems like it will be very good for oily skin!
DeleteI don't think the primer in the same collection would be a good fit for your skin, but for combo-oily girls like myself it's an awesome primer to keep oil at bay all day and help foundation glide on better. I'm on a current no-buy, but I will definitely check out this foundation in the future. It gave your skin such a flawless appearance!
ReplyDeleteI actually did buy the primer but I haven't tried it out yet. I do have combination skin though (I have a really oily T-zone) so maybe it might be good for the area of my skin :)
DeleteI was really curious about this product, but I have REALLY dry skin and I'm supa dupa pale! I think I'll pass on this one, but thanks for the review :)
ReplyDeleteI may have to pick this up, especially as my skin is a bit oilier and I need the mattifying effect. And pinkish tones work well on me.
ReplyDeleteNyc review! i am using this and its flawless <3
ReplyDeleteI may have to try this. It looks like it may work for me.
ReplyDeleteI think I will try this out. I saw in the shop but I kind of stay away from Rimmel foundations because they are not too pigmented and my skin needs a full coverage so yeah... :D
ReplyDeleteI realy like Rimmel products lately. And I need something to cover my acne too. I'll try it as soon as I find it in my town...
ReplyDeleteWe have pretty much the same skin type! I also struggle with covering up scars, and I thought this might be too drying.
ReplyDeleteRimmel also tends to break me out, so maybe I should try a small size.
Nice review...I am going to skip it...ur photo is describing this review very well....:)
ReplyDeleteI think this would be great for oily skin, Its pocket friendly so worth checking out! Thank you for the review :) xx

ReplyDeleteI'd really like to try this.
ReplyDeletewow it looks awesome on you! is it good for dry skin too? i love rimmel
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting. I'm gonna try out this product.
ReplyDeleteI heard about this sinking into pores from quite a few YouTube beauty gurus and that instantly turned me off, aside from it also emphasizing any dry patches as my cheeks are horrendously dry and along my jawline where I tend to get acne. I already have large pores on my nose and the tops of my cheeks and I cringe whenever I try a foundation or BB cream and it sinks into them and emphasizes them even more!
ReplyDeleteI am excited for the full review of this product. It seems like a great product to try out.
