Review: Wet n Wild MegaSlicks Balm Stains

Greetings from the Dark Side!

I know many of you were anxious to see a review for the new Wet n Wild MegaSlicks Balm Stains, so here it my review! I've been using these for almost four weeks now, so I am a little overdue on a review. You should all now by now that I am addicted to Wet n Wild products, and I'm always excited to try out their new products!~

The Wet n Wild MegaSlicks Balm Stains are jumbo lip pencils that have glossy colors while also having a stain effect.

Product:
MegaSlicks Balm Stains (shades 'A Stiff Pink', 'Red-dy or Not', and 'Lady and the Vamp')
Brand:
 Wet n Wild
Price:
$2-3
Packaging:
Jumbo lip pencils with a pull-off cap. These are twistable lip colors so there is no sharpening required.
Color:
'A Stiff Pink': cool-toned barbie pink
 'Red-dy or Not': pink-toned red
'Lady and the Vamp': sheer grape purple
Texture/Finish/Smell:
These have very glossy finishes, much like a lip balm. They glide on super smoothly, again, much like a lip balm. I didn't notice a smell to these at all until I got really, really close to the lip stain. There is an unpleasant smell, but it is soooo faint I almost can't smell it.
Pigmentation:
These are really hydrating and glossy, but they have an amazing color pay-off. I would say they have similar color pay-off to the Revlon Balm Stains.
Application:
Application is insanely easy. You don't need lip pencils or lip balm underneath these. You can swipe them on and be on your way!
Wear (comfort):
These feel like you're just wearing lip balm so your lips should not feel dry or chapped.
Wear (time):
Because these are quite glossy, the glossy colors fades quite quickly (2-3 hours). But they are also stains, so once the glossy color fades, you will have a nice subtle tint to your lips that can last a long while (6-9 hours). The darker the color, the longer it lasts on the lips.
Dupes? Similar products?:
Revlon Just Bitter Kissable Lip Balm Stains  (I actually prefer the texture of the Wet n Wild ones better, although I like the smell of the Revlon ones better). The shade 'Lady and the Vamp' looks quite similar to the Rouge d'Armani Sheer Lipstick in #62.

The Good:
Compared to the Revlon Balm Stains, these Wet n Wild are very affordable. You can get them for $1.99 if they have the $1 off coupon attached (which is how I got all three of these). Beats paying about $7-8 for a Revlon one, for sure. The formula and texture is great. They are hydrating, glossy, pigmented, and work really well. I feel like these are amazing day-time lip products because they are easy to just throw on the lips without too much care. They are a great pigmented pop of color without having to worry about using a lip liner or without having to worry about chapped lips. And these are actually really pigmented!

The Bad:
For me the only major problem with these is the wear. I feel like these are more Balm than Stain. They do have a stain, but it is quite faint. The lip color fades in about 3 hours and the faint stain remains for a while longer. It's not just these though, most Balm Stains are not very long-wearing. Other than that, I have only good things to say!

  11. great review!! The three colours goes really well with you! I thought the pink would be more light, comparing with your hand, but in the lips is a really nice tone!
